Too young for Disney World?

I mentioned to my IL's last night that we might take DS to Disney Land or on the Disney Cruise in January.

They insisted he is way to young to really enjoy and appreciate it and I should wait a few years.

Thoughts?

eta. He is going to be 4 years old.

Re: Too young for Disney World?

I think he is old enough to go, he understands now what's around him.

I would go for it.

Re: Too young for Disney World?

We took my son Caiden a few times already. The first time was when he was 20 months old. Let's just say that he remembered almost everything he did and didn't stop talking about it until we went again the next time. He's definitely not too young IMO. Everyone told me that Caiden was too young, but obviously not. I guess it depends on the child, but I don't think so. I think he'll love it! Chat Icon

Re: Too young for Disney World?

I think 4 years old is a GREAT time to take a baby to disney. In fact I was thinking that next summer since Emily would be almost 2 that it would be nice to go --- so I don't think 4 would be a problem at all.

My brother and SIL took their daughter when she was 18 months and they enjoyed it and she enjoyed meeting the characters.

Re: Too young for Disney World?

that is the PERFECT age, my daughters were 4 and 1, and they BOTH had an amazing time, it is so visually stimulating. We are going back in April, my daughters will be 7 and 4 and my son will be 20 months. Just beware, it is a bit overwhelming, we renamed the Magic Kingdom the Meltdown Kingdom, kids were dropping like flies because it was so overwhelming and the excitement got th ebest of themChat Icon

Re: Too young for Disney World?

We're taking Kiera to Disney land next week and she'll be 2 next month so I don't think 4 is too young at all. At a young age they wont be able to enjoy the whole park, but they do enjoy the stuff for their age.

Re: Too young for Disney World?

Thank you everyone so much!! I don't know why I listen to my IL's sometimes!Chat Icon

The kept trying to talk me out of it saying he would appreicate it, there is nothing for him to do there, all he will do is cry for us to buy him overpriced souvenirs and so on.
They went a few years ago with a 3 year old so that is why I started to get nervous.

Thanks everyone!!

Re: Too young for Disney World?

i just came back from there, i think a 4 yr old would like a lot of the rides--for you it might be exhausting tho....take it slow, see what u can and when he gets cranky or hot go back to the hotel and relax..i felt bad for some parents who totally seemed like they were trying to do way too much

have fun!!!!!

Re: Too young for Disney World?

I think it's a perfect age. I wanted to take DS next year but DH said "let's wait till he's older, like when he's 4" So it shoud be fine.

We are going a cruise though next year! Can't wait!

Re: Too young for Disney World?

I am so glad you posted this. We are planning on taking ds next April and I have been hearing from some people that he is still too young and won't remember. He will be 3 and I think it is fine. He has a great memory and I know he will have a blast!

Re: Too young for Disney World?

my first time was 6- but both my brother and sister went at 3 years old

they remember everything

my moms rule was NO DIAPERS- you had to be potty trained to go on vacation
