OUCH!
Yesterday when Alex was nursing it hurt sooooooooo bad. And today she was super crabby, so I thought it was just the RSV, though the coughing and wheezing is now gone (yay for breastfeeding!). So, she grabbed my finger a few hours ago and brought it into her mouth and lo and behold I felt something VERY sharp. I looked and guess what I saw?! Her very first tooth! It must have broken through either today or yesterday! Poor thing! RSV and now this!
So, now onto the question - how do I prevent her from using her new pearly whites to chomp down on mommy? It hurts so bad!!

I BF, so I read up on that cause I was nervous about her getting teeth in and how would I continue to BF her. The book said that it shouldn't be a problem and to just continue doing what your doing. They are so use to feeding the way they do now, so the teeth shouldn't be a problem.

my daughter use to always bite me, you should say "no" and take her off and then put her back on EVERY time she bites. it works! It's behavior modification, they learn that each time they bite they hear "no" and have their nursing session interrupted, eventually she will learn that if she bites there is a repercution, even though it is unintended at this point but she iwll learn how to reposition her mouth.

La Leche instructs to pull the baby in towards you, which will block the nose for a second so the baby releases. So thats what I do.
Be very careful if you choose to pull the baby off - a friend of mine ended up with a cut that way as she pulled away but baby did not open her mouth. OUCHIE!!!
