Spinoff to "do you love living on LI"
for those of you who answered that you can't imagine living anywhere else or that you're staying here for family's sake, have you ever lived anywhere else? if so, where?

Re: Spinoff to "do you love living on LI"
I have never lived anywhere else, but DH is from upstate and also lived in Florida. When I ask him if he would want to live upstate where his parents are, he ALWAYS answers no. He likes LI, just wishes (like all the rest of us) that it wasn't so expensive.

Re: Spinoff to "do you love living on LI"
I've never lived anywhere else, but I often visit Florida. Honestly, I just hate Florida (no disrespect to others). I just cant deal with the heat. Although I love LI, I wouldnt mind moving further out east where its less congested.

Re: Spinoff to "do you love living on LI"
I remember when I didnt want to live in Suffolk - that was too far away. I would have to live in the northeast though - I love the seasons - the south is too hot for me. If we can't live on LI - we would move upstate, CT, NJ, PA, MD, or VA. As long as its a "driveable" distance, where we can come home for a weekend.

Re: Spinoff to "do you love living on LI"
I lived in Queens and I wouldn't like to move back there, I love having a big backyard, but I cant compare to anywhere else unless I use family that lives elsewhere as an example.

Re: Spinoff to "do you love living on LI"
I didn't respond on the other thread but I love living here...no way could I live the rest of my life anywhere else. To answer the question I lived in Pennsylvania for a few years and in Wyoming...on the Montana border.
No comparison to LI

Re: Spinoff to "do you love living on LI"
Nope, I have only lived on LI. I have visited many other states, but to me NY has all that I desire. Yes, it is expensive to live here, but to me the rewards are greater. Where else, could I live, where I am surrounded by beaches. In 45 minutes I could be in Manhattan and experience culture that to me, puts any other city in the US to shame. Then go out east and we have the Hamptons and Montauk. To me I have the best of both worlds right in my own back yard. To me the size of my house isn't my priority, it's the culture and the experiences I get to live.

Re: Spinoff to "do you love living on LI"
i didnt post on the other thread but I do love living on LI. I lived in NJ for the past 9 years and I also traveled to Florida, Alabama and Pennsylvania for months at a time so I feel like I got an idea what it was like to live in all of those place. I even made local friends and went out on a date once!
I prefer living on LI because it has most of the things that i really love: beaches (sound and ocean), close proximity to NYC, great restaurants, snow skiing is not too far, great shopping, and my family and good friends are all nearby. I can't imagine moving to any of the places that i traveled and I definitely prefer long island to NJ.

Re: Spinoff to "do you love living on LI"
I lived upstate for about 5 years during and after college. All throughout my childhood, and while I was upstate, i talked about how I hated Long Island and wanted to get away. But when I came back, something clicked and I realized all of the wonderful things I had been overlooking and now I can't imagine living anywhere else!
