does anyone have one of those decorative outdoor fireplaces?? my dh saw one at lowes, and now he wants to get one....
i was wondering something.....do you need a permit to burn firewood outside in your backyard, even if its in one of these specially designed wood burners??? Image Attachment(s):

Re: Outdoor Fireplaces??
My parents have a little wood burning outdoor chiminea (sp?) for cool evenings on the deck. They love it! And they didn't have to get a special permit for it either....that I know of

Re: Outdoor Fireplaces??
yeah...see, i was thinking that you would NOT need to get one especially since they're being sold in mass from lowes, home depot, etc.... BUT, you never know what the town rules are huh? what town is your mom in?

They moved from Mineola to Fort Salonga, and have used it at both houses.
And when they were selling their house, it was out on the back deck, and I don't believe anything was said to them about it....so I assume they're pretty safe

Re: Outdoor Fireplaces??
I have one, and I didn't get a permit. I don't think you need one, but who knows. There are som many rules you have to follow and so many permits you have to get for every little stupid thing in LI!!
