Do you bargain at furniture stores?
Is the price on the furniture the price you pay or can you bargain them down in those types of stores?

I try to. It never hurts to ask if they can throw in free shipping or something like that. Most of the time I just try to be nice and really patient and it is offered without me even asking.

I do too. It can't hurt to try and EVERYTHING in life is negotiable. Furniture has a HUGE markup due to the fact that you only buy it a few times (or should) during a lifetime. Many of these furniture stores are not making the sales... so much consolidation. I've even heard of many name brand furniture stores matching N. Carolina prices they are so desperate these days.
Just don't let on how much you love anything... remember your poker face and tell them you got X deal at another store but would rather by from them for Y reason and can they match the price.
DH says I'm ruthless when it comes to bargaining them down

Re: Do you bargain at furniture stores?
Yes, you can. One thing that can help you bargain, and has several times for us, is buying moe than one thing at a store. "Hey, If I'm willing to buy all three of these from you, what can you do for me? Cause I can always go to your competitor...." Also, when we bought ours on a very, very good sale, the salesman said he couldn't take any more off the price, we had him throw in the fabric warranty for free. You can also get places to void the delivery charge (but some places won't because they use another company to deliver--or so I've been told).
