Positive HPT - please calm me down....
Hello all, I don't post here much b/c we were 100% trying, just whatever happens happens & after a missed period I took 2 test tonight....both pregnant. I am in shock!! Sometimes I post here and the NFR boards that I have anxietie issues and this is just added to it. I think alot of my issues were knowing it is almost time to start a family, I am 31. But this is what I wanted and I just can't stop crying and also I have to quit smoking NOW!! I have smoked during this 2 ww process. I am also going to post this on pregnancy board so I can get some input from there too, so I am sorry if you see it again. Please calm me down!
Thank you all!
Love, Karen: babygirl:

Congratulations!! Relax and try to enjoy this moment. The smoking thing is fine. There are many women that have smoked, drank, and whoever knows what else before they knew they were prego. The next step is to call your Dr. and set up an apt. A happy, healthy 9 months to you... PS- if you take meds for anxiety you might want to call first thing in the am to your dr. there are some meds that you can continue to take during pregnancy if you choose to.

Please calm down and enjoy the moment. I was a smoker too. I smoked until the moment I found out I had a BFP. I quit at that moment and you can too, don't worry. Just sit down, take a deep breathe and enjoy the moment. If the thought of being a Mommy is too overwhelming to your right now, then sit down and think- Damn I won't have my period again for at least 9 months I know for me that was always a happy thought
Congratulations

Re: Positive HPT - please calm me down....
HI, CONGRATS! And relax....all your feeling is normal. I too have anxiety issues and with my first PG it hit me worse. I learned it was a lot of mind over matter because like you, I knew I had anxiety and getting PG just made it worse. You have to almost pretend your fine and it will ease it enough that you can fight it. Post if yoru anxious, talk it out, and get your obgyn on board. If they know your experiencing this, they can be better prepared to ease your mind when you get overwhlemed...if you do...you may just right now have fear of the fear so try to let it sink in and not worry about what will come...easier said then done I KNOW...so Im not saying it will be easy either.
As far as smoking. I smoke now a little...trying to quit, but I quit cold turkey with both my PG's and it was 100% EASIER then I thought. The second PG it took me maybe a week or two to quit all together but I did it because the babies helath matters most. I trult think it will a lot easier then you expect.
Good luck and congrats!!! Your gonna have a baby!

Re: Positive HPT - please calm me down....
First with the smoking thing -your eggs were around since before you were born. Quitting 2 weeks before conception isn't going to change anything. If you can, try to quit now. Sometimes the m/s will help you to quit - you may not be able to stomach smoking.
Second, it's a great but scary moment the minute when you realize you're pregnant. Although both pregnancies were planned, I remember thinking "uh oh...I'm not prepared for this..." Just take a deep breath - and realize that right now, you are one of the lucky ones that got pregnant. There are so many people that go through many hurdles to get there...
What was the term? This is the closest you'll ever come to participating in a miracle.
Congratulations

Re: Positive HPT - please calm me down....
I remember the feeling of stress, excitment and every emotion in between. It is VERY normal.
I do believe it is important to quit smoking during pregnancy but it is also a great reason to quit. Now you can put an image in your mind of your baby...that may really help you when it is tough!!
Good Luck! Congrats.
