Help, how do you make hard boiled eggs?
I made 4, but they all exploded.
I let the water boil and then put them in. I am pretty positive that was wrong.
How long do you let them boil?
FYI - I don't cook, if you haven't figured that out!

I ususlly put them in the water before I turn the gas on and just boil the water with them in there.
Hope that makes sense....

I usually do better letting the water boil first, but that's just me. Once the water's boiling, I put the eggs in (gently, don't drop them in) and let them boil for 10 minutes. They end up just right every time.
ETA: Also, take them out of the water immediately after the 10 minutes and let them sit out on a paper towel for a little while before putting them back in the fridge.

Put them in before you boil the water, then leave them for 12 min (that is how I do it)

Re: Help, how do you make hard boiled eggs?
Put them in cold water, then boil them for 5-7 min and let them sit in the hot water for another 3-4 min.

Seriously. I guess there's no "right" way to do it, because I'm sure all of these different methods work. Too funny!

Re: Help, how do you make hard boiled eggs?
I just looked it up and all of the different times and methods were making my head spin. I will admit that the majority I read started with cold water and boiling the eggs with the water. I guess I do it "wrong"

Re: Help, how do you make hard boiled eggs?
Thanks everyone! I started over. I put the eggs in the water first then turned the gas on and let them boil for about 10 minutes. They didn't explode.

Re: Help, how do you make hard boiled eggs?
I let the water boil first than use a spoon to gently put the egg in and let it cook for 15 minutes!

That is what I do but once the water boils I let it boil about 15 minutes then turn it off & let them sit in the hot water

ANd yet another...
I put the eggs in the water first. Bring to a rolling boil. Cover the pot, turn off the stove and let them sit like that for 10 minutes. Remove from water or run cold water over them to cool them off more quickly.

I do the same but I use tongs to transfer the eggs to the water.
After the eggs have boiled I take them out and place them in really cold water. Then on a paper towel I roll an egg on the long side and apply a little pressure. This will crack the entire outter shell and make it easier to remove the shell from the egg.
