Starting work tomorrow...

It's only part-time and my mother's going to be watching Christopher, but I'm absolutely miserable at the thought of leaving him. We don't even need the money, but it would just be nice to have a cushion. I just can't help feeling like I'm going to miss something major one day while I'm working. What if I miss his first word or his first steps? I know it's a while away, but the thought of it is killing me Chat Icon

Someone told me to think of it this way. You never miss a first because as far as you are concerned, the first time he does something for you is the FIRST TIME he does period.

Hang in there and give us an update tomorrow after you get back from work to let us know how it went.

I hear the first couple of days are the hardest. You'll get through it and having a cushion will allow you to be able to do more things with/for your son. Think of it that way.

I can empathize with you as I return to work in two weeks and I am dreading it. Just know that you are making the right decision for you and your family. Hang in there - I've heard the first few days are the most difficult. Chat Icon

Re: Starting work tomorrow...

Good Luck. I have worked with both my kids and I NEVER felt like I missed any of their firsts. My son is sooo happy to see me at the end of the day that it makes it better that I have to work.
You will be fine and we are all here for you!!
