Back from 3 1/2 month check-up
I have a chunky girl! He jiggled what he called "her c cups" :). She's 15.2 pounds and 24 1/2 inches long. he said, you have no neck little girl. i said yes she does, it's under her chins :).
Now I'm going to start her on cereal. Any suggestions on how much, and how to mix it, and how to incorporate it with her bottle feedings? Thanks!

Re: Back from 3 1/2 month check-up
Steven started cereal also. I found that two teaspoons of cereal with one oz of formula is perfect.
The doc said to do the cereal about 1 1/2 hours after his morning bottle, and it's working great. This way he is not too hungry or too full.
ETS: I'm not sure if the kind of formula you use changes the consistency. I use Gentlease, which is kind of watery.

Thanks. How many times a day do you give it? Once? Do you then wait longer inbetween feedings? Do you lessen the next feeding ounces? We use the Similac RTF formula so it's not that thin. Do you warm it up?

I give it once a day. I don't wait longer between feedings and he has not eaten less at his next feeding. I really don't think they get enough of it to make a big difference in their appetite at this point, maybe once they start eating more. You may need a little more formula since you use the Similac, but put an oz and see how it is. It should be a little runny, but def. not to watery. It should be the consistency of runny yogurt.
I am by no means a pro, but this is what the peditritian told me. Do the rice cereal for 4 days. Then try the next cereal. After that, do the veggies then the fruit. But only do one food for 4 days, in case they are allergic then you will know what is causing the reaction. Once you know that they are not allergic, you can mix the cereals and the food...so you can put the fruit in the cereal. Also, make sure you use the infant cereal and the Stage I foods.
I have a book at home that tells you when you can move it to more than one feeding a day. When I get home, if I remember, I'll look it up and let you know.
ETS: I wanted to clarify about not waiting longer between feedings. DS usually takes a bottle around 7, so I give the cereal around 8:30, then he looks for his bottle around 10:30 or 11, which is exactly when he looked for it without the cereal.

Thank you so much! Now, do you put it in a bowl and just mix it up? Do you heat it?

You're welcome. I couldn't have done it without help either
I just put it in a bowl and mix. Since I use warm formula, I do not heat it.
