Meh... to join the gym, or not to join the gym...
So, I got the key to our exercise room, but, it's not that great... only a few cardio machines and one of those multi-purpous weight machines... which I CANNOT figure out (the how-to poster is across the room on the wall, behind a row of machines... oh so accessible  ).
There's a WSC (DC's NYSC), right next to my building (3 minute walk... literally), and I get a discount through my school ($69 enrollment fee... $49/month... no long term contract).
Do you think it's worth joining? I'm thinking that since it's so close, I might actually go... plus it opens early, so I could go before work.
It's so expensive though... do you think it would be worth it? Thanks!

Well, I HATE the gym, so I know I would join and then find every reason not to go.
But yes, I think it is worth it to join a gym if you can afford it and you know you will get use of it.

See, I know me... I go for like 3 weeks, then inevitibly at the 3 week mark i get sick, and can't get back into it.
Maybe I'll try it out, and if I stop going, I'll just quit, at least i won't get stuck with a 2 year commitment or anything...
I think I'm so eager to go now because I sit at home all day, bored out of my skull. But once school begins I'll be too tired to do anything.

I think if you're going to go then it's definitely worth the expense. I go to the gym before work (something I never thought I could do) but now Im used to it and if I dont go, I feel so guilty. It helps if you have a friend to go w/ you too. I joined with a friend but lately she hasnt been coming, but I don't let that stop me from going even though it's tempting!
Alot of gyms will offer a free pass for like a week so you can try it out or just sign for a month so this way you dont commit to something longer incase you dont go.

That's a great price for WSC, and if you're just paying month-to-month, I'd give it a shot. Like you said, you can always quit if you really don't like it or never go.
Can you find someone to work out with you every now and then? Maybe that'll motivate you to keep going?
P.S. where are you in VA? I lived in Leesburg, Herndon, Centreville, and Sterling (and worked in McLean - right by a WSC!). DH and I just moved away in Feb.
