major movie watching gripe..long

my bf and i went to the 8pm showing of superman on friday nite. it was at a small theater b/c tix r only 7 bucks..

practically every seat was taken and about 10 minutes into the movie a woman and her 3 yr old little girl come in and sit next to us... can i just tell you, i was sooo pi$$ed off....

the little girl did not stop talking LOUDLY the entire movie..

mommy..mommy..mommy..i need popcorn, i need my drink, i just burped, mommy did u hear that, mommy whats happening..

i kid u not the mom MAYBE told her to shh ONE time, other times she was answering her back in an adult voice... i was absolutly livid..

why is this child at an 8pm showing of an adult movie.... she was drinking out of a sippy cup for g-ds sake, take ur kid home..

and if ur going to bring her to a movie and she gets loud then take her out, SOME PPLE PAID FOR THIS MOVIE..

half way threw the movie we had to go sit in the front row and u could still hear her!!!!!

i cant even blame the child, she was adorable and just being a kid ya kno....

this was poor parenting at its finest and i truly wanted to have words with this woman after the show but i let it go... i wanted to also complain to the theater but i didnt wanna miss the movie--whcih technically i missed sooo many scenes and couldnt hear what was going on, that we r going again to see it this week...Chat Icon

exxxactly... plus the movie ended at almost 11:00 i thought that was way too late for a 3 yr old to begin with, this woman was definitly not winning any mother of the yr awards

Re: major movie watching gripe..long

OMG - not trying to hijack, but this was me yesterday! We watched Superman Returns and the child in the first row (I was in the back) kept yelling out things like, "He can fly!" Normally, that wouldn't irk me if the adults around us were just watching the movie.

To my right, two guys who brought beer into the movie theater Chat Icon (and were told to get rid of it - hello, kick them out!) kept making comments to each other. Yeah, I'm watching the same movie - you can shut up. The couple next to DH - doing the same thing. THEN the kids behind me, one their cells ring and he answered the phone. I turned back and hissed through clenched teeth, "Get off your phone. Now." He did.

But then the guy next to me answered his cell - I asked him to get off the phone. He said, "You don't tell these people to stop laughing at the movie."

After hearing the dumbest thing I've ever heard (and letting the guy know that) I watched the rest of the movie in furious silence. DH and I are not going to the movies for a long, long time.

Aren't these all the reasons why the DVD has become so popular! I went to see a film last year and I told some kids to shut up and one of them thew a bottle at me!!! Hence, now I only go to the Baby Cinema or we wait until films come out on DVD to watch them at home...

kids today!

Re: major movie watching gripe..long

that's crazy, I would have been so annoyed.

I would never bring my daughter to an adult showing.
