Calling All Exclusively Breast Feeding Moms

How long are you exclusively nursing or plan to?

How often does DC wake for night feedings?

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep?

When did you introduce solids or plan to? If yes, how did it go?

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced?

How long are you exclusively nursing or plan to?
I hope to make it to 1 year.

How often does DC wake for night feedings?
DS has been sleeping through the night since 3 months.

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep?
I usually feed him right before bed, but he will go to sleep on his own. I let him CIO at first and now he goes to sleep pretty easily.

When did you introduce solids or plan to? If yes, how did it go?
My ped said to start rice cereal at 4 months. I started giving him 1 tbs at night, but then everything I have read says to wait until 6 months so I don't give it to him everyday. Just a few times a week. Once he's 6 months I plan to give it regularly and increase the servings. DS loves it though. He does really well with it.

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced?
No, he was already sleeping 10-11 hours at night.

He still gets up at leat 2 times between 10pm and 7am. He's 10 weeks old now.

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep?
Usually I put him down when he stars acting tired. Sometimes I nurse him to sleep at night, but not for naps.

When did you introduce solids or plan to? If yes, how did it go?
Not yet.

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced?

How long are you exclusively nursing or plan to?
I have been since DD was born - she is 6 1/2 mths now...no plans to stop...the only thing I fear is teeth!!!or my milk drying up....so far so good. I am taking it one day at a time.

How often does DC wake for night feedings? She goes down around 7.30-8.00pm.....wakes at 11.00pm and the only way to get her back to sleep is to feed her...then she sleeps until about 3.30-4.00am wakes again for a feed..at this stage she comes into bed with us so anytime between then and 7.00am she can scoot herself over and latch on!!!I try giving her the pacifier, even wearing a tshirt to bed so she cannot access them so easy...but she buries into me until I have no choice but to give her the boob.....

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep?More often than not...if I dont nurse her to sleep I give her the pacifier and walk and sing her to sleep!!

When did you introduce solids or plan to? If yes, how did it go? Started last week....she istn too keen - dont think she likes the taste of formula as I mixed the rice cereal with water yesterday and she took more...I am going to try hand expressing some breast milk today to add to the rice.

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced?NO!!but it may be too soon to tell.....

Re: Calling All Exclusively Breast Feeding Moms

How long are you exclusively nursing or plan to? I pumped full-time 1 year- although I used formula for the 1st 4 weeks while I was fixing my supply.

How often does DC wake for night feedings? Molly ate every 2-4 hours until about 5 months old and then she slept 5 hours a night (which is considered sleeping thru the night).

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep?
Molly always had a bottle before bed (I had to pump so Molly had all BM in a bottle) until she was almost a year old. But she had NO teeth until she was 15 months old so there was no tooth rot issues.

When did you introduce solids or plan to? If yes, how did it go? 5.5 months old and very slowly...at about 7-8 months old she was regularly eating foods.

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced?
No. Food never made Molly sleep longer. I am a pretty firm believer in the fact that very young tummies can get upset when solids are introduced too early.

How long are you exclusively nursing or plan to?

DD is currently 20 months and we are still BF. The first 12 months was EBF/pumping at work and at 12 months I stopped pumping and gave cows milk when I am at work.

How often does DC wake for night feedings?

Unfortunatly even at 20 months, DD is still waking up 1 a night, however I do not beleive in CIO so we work with it and it has been ok.

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep?

When she is with me, I usually nurse to sleep, BUT she easily goes to sleep on her own with DH, grandmas and the sitter.

When did you introduce solids or plan to? If yes, how did it go?

When she was 4 1/2 months we did cereal and progressed to jarred food, with no problem

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced

I dont know if it had to do with solids or not, but as she got older she progressed into longer and more schedualed naps and woke up less at night.

Re: Calling All Exclusively Breast Feeding Moms

How long are you exclusively nursing or plan to? So far 3 mos and everyday is a struggle so I no longer have a plan. I'm just going to go as long as I can. I originally planned to do it at least 6mos and maybe even a year, but we've had a lot of problems.

How often does DC wake for night feedings? She doesn't. Thank God for that. She's been sleeping through the night since about 5 or 6 weeks old.

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep? No. She sometimes nurses herself to sleep but we don't have to.

When did you introduce solids or plan to? If yes, how did it go? Not there yet

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced? doubt it since she already goes like 10 sometimes even 12 now.

How long are you exclusively nursing or plan to?
DD is 5 1/2 months, original goal was 6 months, will probably go longer.

How often does DC wake for night feedings? Sleeps thru the night, 10-11 hrs.

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep?
She nurses before bed and usually falls asleep but can fall asleep on her own.
Naps--sometimes, she is not a good napper, 30 minutes tops and usually in swing/carseat/stroller, etc.

When did you introduce solids or plan to? If yes, how did it go?
4 1/2 months started cereal, went great...just started veggies.

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced?
She was sleeping thru the night b4 I started cereal.

How long are you exclusively nursing or plan to?

The original plan was 6 months. She is 16.5 months now and we are still nursing.

How often does DC wake for night feedings?

Once a night. She is asleep around 7 pm, nurses at like 3 am, and wakes up for the day at about 6:30 am.

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep?

I nurse before naps and bedtime, but I put her down awake in the crib.

When did you introduce solids or plan to? If yes, how did it go?

I introduced solids when she was 6 months old. She rejected them in the beginning. She started eating solids well at about 9 months.

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced?

Nope, there was no change in her sleep. Walking made the biggest improvement in her sleeping.

Re: Calling All Exclusively Breast Feeding Moms

How long are you exclusively nursing or plan to?

I planned on nursing for at least 6 months, but I didn't plan on hating pumping, sooo DD will be weaned at 4 months old.

How often does DC wake for night feedings?

She hasn't woken for night feeding since 4-6 weeks old. She goes down at 8pm, eats, then gets up at 10-10:30pm, eats then is down for the night til 7-8am

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep?

In the first couple weeks yes, especially at night. At 6-8 weeks she found her thumb and/or self soothes to sleep.

When did you introduce solids or plan to? If yes, how did it go?

Do not plan on introducing any solids til at least 6 months old

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced?

Not at that point yet, but I totally think solids have nothing to do with how long a baby sleeps at night. I think it's all up to the baby, solids, formula or bm doesn't matter.

I agree 100% but was just making sure to see if I was the only one with a baby who barely sleeps Chat Icon

how old was DD when you started to put her down awake?

For naps I started at about 4.5 months, because she was taking her naps on my lap and I couldn't put her down without waking her up. For night time at 6 months, although night was never a struggle.

I am no longer nursing but since I nursed Damien for almost two years I thought I would answer.

How long are you exclusively nursing or plan to?

I nursed him exclusively till he was a year and introduced milk in a cup when he was 13 months. I still BF once a day and every night till he was 22 months old.

How often does DC wake for night feedings?

He would wake up quite a bit in the beginning, then it would be twice a night till he was almost a year. I co-slept and would just leave my bob out for him and he would wake up and nurse himself. People may think I'm crazy but I slept better that way.

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep?

Yes every time, I kinda of wish I didn't do it and will try not to with baby #2

When did you introduce solids or plan to?
If yes, how did it go? I started giving him cereal a little after 4 months, he did just fine

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced?

Definitely

I am thinking, well hoping since we are both "old foggies" since we were in our teens (never the type to be out all night partying) hoping it rubs off on her Chat Icon

Re: Calling All Exclusively Breast Feeding Moms

How long are you exclusively nursing or plan to?

DS is 6 months old today. My original goal was 6 months, but now that we've reached it, I think I'll keep going until 12 months.

How often does DC wake for night feedings?

He is sleeping through the night (8pm -5am) regularly!!! YAY!!!

Do you have to nurse to nap or sleep?

I always nurse him before bedtime, but not really for naps.

When did you introduce solids or plan to? If yes, how did it go?

We started cereal at 4 months and started Stage 1 fruits yesterday (1 day before his 6 month birthday). DS LOVED it!!

Did you notice longer sleep intervals when solids were introduced?

Not really. His sleep habits don't seem to be related to what he eats.
