Prayers for my friend please....
One of my good friends, who has also been TTC, called me today to tell me that her OBGYN found a tumor in her uterus a couple months ago. Without letting anyone but her DH know, she started hormone therapy to try to get rid of it.
She found out today that the therapy isn't working and a hysterectomy is her only option. She's only 33 years old. The doctors said they have NEVER seen anyone at her age have such an advanced case of this.
So as a newlywed, she is now faced with the fact that she will never be able to carry her own children and surrogacy or adoption are her only options for a child.
When I think back to the amount of stuff I have complained about to her in the last couple of months I'm ashamed. I know I didn't know any better, but I can't believe I whined about having to be on Clomid when she was going through this.
She's asked me not to tell any of our other friends yet - even DH - she's not ready to deal with everyone knowing yet. But I had to get it out - just typing it is helping me deal a little better and I know you ladies won't tell anyone.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Your friend will be in my thoughts and prayers. Sometimes we all need to hear stories like this to put our own lives in perspective.

I hate that anyone has to go through this, but esp. someone who has never even had the honor of having one child of their own. I'll keep her in my prayers.

Re: Prayers for my friend please....
That is the most awful news! My heart completely goes out to her. I would seriously advise your friend to get several opinions before someone at age 33 goes on to have a hysterectomy. Has she seen a specialist at Sloan Kettering (Gynecologic Oncologist)? I would even look into the Mayo Clinic. This is not something I would trust a typical ob/gyn to decide. She is definitely not going to be thinking clearly, you sound like you care deeply for her....I pray she finds alternate help. I listed two other options below. One of my best friend's SIL just had a myomectomy. I will find out more about it, if you want. Feel free to forum mail me
Uterine artery embolization. One option for treating fibroid tumors is uterine artery embolization, a procedure that involves blocking the blood supply to the tumor. Without blood, the fibroids shrink over time, which can reduce painful and uncomfortable symptoms, such as heavy bleeding or an enlarged abdomen.
Myomectomy. If you have fibroid tumors, a myomectomy can surgically remove the tumors and leave your uterus intact. Getting rid of the tumors relieves abnormal bleeding and painful symptoms. Although there's a risk that the tumors could come back, this may be the best option for you if you want to have children

Re: Prayers for my friend please....
there is a surgeon in los angelos from "california fertility partners".....his name is doctor charles march. before your friend does anything, i would at least have her call him. he is a world renowned reproductive surgeon and has been cited as one of the 100 best doctors in the entire world.
she can e-mail him and he would call her and give her a phone consultation. he is the one who cured me with one surgery after i too was told that surrogacy and adoption were my only options.
fm me if you would like more info.
