Re-covering dining room chairs?
We found a nice dining room set that is used. It is exactly what I wanted (that I couldn't find anywhere) and in great condition. The only thing is it has white fabric seats that have stains on them. Does anyone know of place that will recover the seats for me and how much I can expect to spend?

What kind of chairs are they? If it is just the seat that is covered you could do it with a staple gun!
Remove the seat and take off the fabric. Put batting on it and staple. Lay the right side of the new fabric down and put the seat with batting on it so that the batting touches the wrong side of the fabric. Stretch and staple.

Definitley! It's so easy to do...that's my project for either this year or next year when we combine our used set with my parent's set.

Maybe I will ask my mom to help me.
So, where do they sell fabric? What kind should I get for seats that is durable but looks good?

My tenant recovered a few dining room chairs herself and they look great. I don't know if I'm crafty enough to figure it out but maybe you can find someone to help you do it!

dont know where youare located but we got fabric ona s tore on voice road in carle place. Its in that row of stores that has a martys shoes outlet and.. of course i cant remeber what else LOL.
Anyway its across form the shpng center that has carters outlet,party city and now a ciao babay restauraunt. Hope this helps, i knwo i was sketchy with the info.
We got our fabric there and my recovered them for me it wasnt hard at all

I am one of the least crafty people in the world and I was able to recover our kitchen chairs very easily.
Just find a durable fabric, take off the seat, flip it upside down, pull it taut and staple it!
You'll pay a fraction of what you would pay if you had someone do it for you.

look for a heavier fabric - like something you'd use for drapes. It is really easy - and the end result is great.

We did ours through the fabric mill off the LI.
we had bought our dining room chairs that had white chushions and we weren't thrilled, so we went to the Fabric mill found Fabric that actually matches our living room set and they redid the cushions for us... It did take 6 weeeks to get but they are great...
i priced this out at a couple of places and they were the cheapest. I think it cost us $300 for everything..
oh it was for 6 chairs...

DEFINITELY go here! GREAT selection!
While your at it if the foam padding is beat up you might want to replace that too...they'll cut the padding to fit the base of the chair...just bring in the seat.

Also, what I used to do when I was sewing a lot of bags (about 5 years ago) was go to an upholstery shop and ask for their scraps. Free yards of heavy duty quality fabric. Down side would be not enough fabric for 6 chairs, but maybe you could coordinate. But def. look for heavy duty thick fabric. Julz, you could do it in 2 hours!

go to Joanns for fabric and look for upholstery fabric....heavier and more durable
