Question for girls with gd...
How high do you let your blood sugar get?
So far I have been pretty good with my diet and my numbers have been pretty low- so I ate a piece of pizza and got 121. (I was told it has to be 120 and under).
Also- any meal or snack ideas for me? I have been eating the SAME THING every day for every meal. Thanks!

question for you Steph...do you recall what your cut off number to pass/fail was???
the cut off for me was 129 and I measured a 130 for the 1 hr

I used to eat the same stuff every day too...I used to eat pizza...get a thin piece and don't eat all your crust...I used to eat a big salad with it too. Sometimes my numbers were good and sometimes they were high...

I think it was 142- I am not sure. Did you take your 3 hour yet?

I was told that the cutoff for the 1 hour is around 145, and that if you are around there they will order the 3-hour to just be sure. My 1-hr was 186 so we never even did the 3-hour, just sent me right to the dietitian.
My dietician told me to stay between 45 carbs for breakfast and lunch, and 45-60 for dinner, and to have two 15-20 carb snacks a day, one of them being a half cup of ice cream at night since I'm not a milk drinker and she wanted me to get dairy. My other snack she recommended crackers with cheese or peanutbutter. As far as my meals, I've done cereal, like special K a lot, and actually life cereal doesn't have as many carbs as a lot of other ones, and i always have it with 1% milk. for lunch i usually do leftovers from dinner in a smaller portion or a sandwich on whole wheat bread. for dinner i normally do a regular dinner just watch my portion on the carb part. she also recommended 1 egg with cheese on whole wheat or an english muffin for breakfast.
she gave me a whole packet with carb info for different foods. also you can get a lot of carb info for different foods online, so you can look up how many carbs things have to see if it's safe or not, and this way you're not limited to the same hting over and over again. i was told pizza and chinese food raise your blood sugar the most, and at first i didn't notice it but now that i'm further along in the pregnancy it's worse, if i have either of the two, my 2 hour level is usually around 146 or so, so i have to be good to stay away from it now.
let me know if you have any questions!! btw, what were your 1 hr and 3 hr levels? they usually give you an indication of how "severe" the GD will be and how closely you need to stick to that diet and/or use insulin.

I was thinking my 1 hours (i did 2 one early one later) were 120 something and low 130 something and I did not have to take the 3 hour.
