AndreaLMT and Kimmie- huntington hospital question
Did you guys have to room with anyone? also did they give you an option for a private room? When we went for the tour they said January is a quiet month and I probably wouldnt have to room with anyone. TIA

Re: AndreaLMT and Kimmie- huntington hospital question
I actually got a private room. I was feeling pretty horrible after the C-Section & really just wanted to be alone. It was nice to have the peace & quiet!

Re: AndreaLMT and Kimmie- huntington hospital question
my first choice is a private room but dont want to pay for a private room if they are quiet and can give me a regular room without a roomate. expecially since i want to nurse kinda wierd havinga stranger in the room while doing that.

Re: AndreaLMT and Kimmie- huntington hospital question
I too got a private room. Andrea and I are spoiled brats HAHA I would get a private room if you can they said it was pretty slow in December too but I got the last labor and delivery room when I got there so it wasn't slow... There were a few babies there too when we were there. I think it is worth the $ then you dont have to share a bathroom because you really don't feel like it you are in there alot and the shower is yours too. If you dont get a private room ask for the window bed that way they dont have to walk by you everytime they come and go and their relatives and everyone else.. Good luck and let us know how you do

Re: AndreaLMT and Kimmie- huntington hospital question
dh said i can get a private room just curious if you ladies were originally put in a regular room without a roomate. i checked with insurance its like $200 extra but its totally worth it since its equivalent to a night at a hotel. thats how i rationalize the money.

Re: AndreaLMT and Kimmie- huntington hospital question
I didn't get a private room with Joseph. There was no point since I couldn't have him in the room with me.
With Maddie (June), it was completely empty so I had my own room the whole time.
Defintiely go for the window bed.
Good luck!
Keep in mind - those rooms are first come, first serve so if you think it's going to busy ask for one right away.

Re: AndreaLMT and Kimmie- huntington hospital question
I was going to request a private room, but got lucky to have my own room the entire time, it was great, being nice to the L&D nurses help too, they cn really advocate for you to be put in room that is last to be filled, that is what ahppened with us. I told them I had 2 toddlers and I also had areally tough labor and delivery due to their lack of intervention so they said they felt they owed it to me. The nurses are gret at Huntington Hospital, bring coffe and donuts, or fruit, or bagels, it is really appreciated and gives you an "in"!

Re: AndreaLMT and Kimmie- huntington hospital question
Wow its so strange to me how different hospitals in NY are compared to the hospital I delivered at here in CO.
Here you labor and deliver in the same room which is a private room with private bathroom and jacuzzi tub. Your baby never leaves your side unless you ask them to take it. They do all newborn procedures with you. Also there is a pullout couch for DH to spend the night. My DH was with me the whole time.
I couldn't imagine having to share a room after birth. I would totally pay the extra money.
Sorry to thread crash I just was surprised that this was even an issue.
