Nurseries: to go girl or not?

Hey y'all!! Now that we know we're having a girl, I'm not quite sure if I should go girl for the nursery or keep it relatively not so girl so she can grow with it.

I'm not a big pink person or all frills and bows, although I do love some of those dresses that are out there.....

I agree with you! I like a nice, soft, soothing environment and not frilly. I would opt for something to grow with her unless you are up for redecorating all over again in a couple of years. I am keeping my walls neutral and just adding accent pieces that can be changed as the baby gets older. BUT..I don't know if I'm having a boy or girl!

Good Luck!

I probably wouldn't go "too girly." We're moving like two weeks after the baby is born at which time we'll know the sex (obviously), but I'm still going to go kind of neutral.

Also, I don't know your house set-up or your preference, but I'm making the nursery the room closest to my bedroom and when I have #2, #1 will move down the hall. So if the the second baby is the opposite gender, I won't have to change the whole room theme.

ETA: You could also accessorize with "girly" touches, like wall hangings, etc, that could eventually be removed if she (or you) want to later on.

I felt the same way - so we are doing a lavendar/sage green theme in the room - I think it will grow with her. (plus i think my DH is scared of pink!!)

Re: Nurseries: to go girl or not?

I am a big pink person and i was a rose and frill girl. Once i found out we were having a girl i went nuts and bought EVERYTHING in pink and purple and frills and ruffles. I love it. I don't think there is anyway a mom that knows they are having a girl can resist buying all of the cute little things that are out there. Go nuts you deserve it. Chat Icon

I am planning to go neutral (creme and white) for the paint and accent with the pink/blue so that #2 can move into the nursery and I can move #1 to what is now the guest room.

I'm doing girl but keeping it simple. White wainscotting on the bottom and a very pale pink on top becaues I am not a huge pink fan either for a room but that color will go best with her bedding.

Re: Nurseries: to go girl or not?

we didnt know what we were having so we made it neutral and plan to use it as the nursery for our next child. If you plan to do it "girly" I personally would keep it simple so that I can update it with accessories and not have to do the room over and over with each stage!
