Taking the baby out
How soon after your babies were born did you take them out places, aside from the pedi. office?

Re: Taking the baby out
Well when she was a few days old we went to the grocery store with DH and his parents while they were visiting. Then we've been to the lactation consultant and to daddy's office. And just today we went pumpkin picking. She'll be 3 weeks on Monday. For the most part I stay home. Its hard to get out and I still worry about her catching something.

Re: Taking the baby out
Emily is 9 days old now. I REALLY want to go grocery shopping because I need fresh fruits and easy things to make for lunch and snacks but I don't want to leave her home with my husband .. even though he's doing great, I kidn of want us to all go out together! My SIL told me I should wait 3 months! We definately won't be able to do that!!

DH and I take Alex out everyday with us... shopping, dinner, lunch... we even took her with us today to pick out an eliptical. She does really well out and seems to enjoy it, and it has done wonders for my sanity

We take Salvatore out all the time too. We just keep to ourselves and use a lot of hand sanitizer and stay away from anyone who looks sick. We HAD to get out!! I would have gone stir crazy. I think we took him out at 5 days old to lunch with us.

Now that's impressive. I couldn't even imagine going out to dinner with Miranda. She hates the carseat so if she doesn't fall asleep on the drive she will cry the whole time she's in it. I guess lucky for me I'm a homebody so I haven't gone stir crazy yet.

Re: Taking the baby out
I'm so nervous about germs and my baby getting sick so when I asked my doctor when its ok for her to go out she said walks are ok, but going to the food store or malls you should wait till shes 3 months old. I was fine with that cause I nerver go to malls I shop on line, and I dont go to the food stores cause I shop on Peapod.com which is sooooo great for moms with newborns since you cant leave the house right away. My daughter is almost 4 months now and I still watch where i take her, I guess Everyone is different.

Re: Taking the baby out
Yesterday we went out for the first time (other than my moms or the DR) We went to the outlets, however I didnt really bring him in any stores..
I really just wanted us to get some fresh air, and wanted some different scenery.. We literally window shopped!!
He is a little over 2 weeks..

Re: Taking the baby out
I have been taking out Jacob's for walks since 2 weeks, and to the grandparents only.
My doc and my brother (also a ped) are very conservative no malls, supermarkets, etc until first shots, which is 2 months.. I cant wait til then only 2 weeks to go....
I would be very upset with myself if he ended up with a fever which would mean straight to the hospital and all these tests including a spinal tap!! To me it is not worth it to go out to those places...

Re: Taking the baby out
I took her out about 2 weeks after she was born but I put a net on the carriage so strangers couldn't touch her
