Re: swab at 35 week appointment?
they are most likely going to test for something called "strep b". its something that can be dangerous to the baby during birth if you are not giving an antibotic drip during labor. the test is giving to all pregnant woman. and a swab is just want it sounds like, they just use a big q-tip in your private area to test if are positive for strep b or not, it doesnt hurt. you wont even feel it.

Re: swab at 35 week appointment?
I had it done already when I had to go to the emergency room. It was harmless- no worries!

Re: swab at 35 week appointment?
So you know, my Dr told me that about 50% of them come back positive and its fairly common. Nothing to worry about.

Re: swab at 35 week appointment?
they will be testing for strep B. If you are pos. they will give you antibiotics when you deliver. Not a big deal. I was nervous that it would hurt (I'm such a baby LOL) and was old that it's like a pap. It didn't even feel anything like a pap- I didn't even notice that my Dr. did it and it was over. completely painless!
good luck!
