Spinoff...Dr. Brown bottles & powder formula
We switched from Similac to Enfamil A.R. and from Advent to Dr. Brown's and it is really helping the spitting up a lot. But now the problem I have is that I can't get all the powder to disolve so it is clumpy and then DS can't get any formula. I have tired stiring it in the bottle and then making it in a pitcher to make a large batch but nothing works. Any suggestiongs.

Re: Spinoff...Dr. Brown bottles & powder formula
are you packing the scoops tightly?
are you putting powder first, then water or water first then powder?
The instructions say water first, then powder...I only do it opposite when I''m not at home.
Try making a few bottles in advance, shake 'em up really hard and put them in the fridge to settle the bubbles. You can microwave them for 18-25 seconds to take the chill off.

Re: Spinoff...Dr. Brown bottles & powder formula
I put the wate first then the powder and the powder doesn't seem packed in the scooper. I make his bottles the night before but their still a layer of foam in the bottles the next day. Last night I actually used a miny sive and poured the milk through that from the pitcher into the bottles and their was about a teaspoon full when I was done that collected. When I take them out of the fridge I put the bottle in a pot of water and warm it on the stove.

I have this little thingymabob that froths milk and its fantastic for mixing up the powder with water. It makes it a little bit like a cappucino and you all know how sophisticated my baby is...
He prefers espresso, but the caffeine makes him mental.

Re: Spinoff...Dr. Brown bottles & powder formula
I usually use RTF formula, but when we are going out somewhere I use powder. I put room temp bottles water in, then the powder (not packing the scooper) and then I mix with a handmixer thing I got at BRU - works fine.

It says to use warm H2o and that may be your problem? I have bubles but if I wait a little while they are gone.

I use a formula blender you can buy at BBB for about $5.00 and it works wonders.

I put the water in, then powder, put a travel cap on and shake. She was on Enfamil Gentlease now is on regular Enfamil which mixes up nicely with out shaking.

is the travel cap different from the when you buy the bottle and the flat plastic piece is covering the hole of the bottle? If it is I tried make the bottles like that and the powder got all caked up.

Yes the travel cap you have to buy seperate. Once you use it you will see a huge difference. BRU is always sold out of them!

Re: Spinoff...Dr. Brown bottles & powder formula
Are you shaking it really well? Dr. Brown's get rid of the bubbles so you can shake it. I wonder if it's because the AR is a thicker formula to help it stay down.
