Moms of December & January Babies Check-In...
How are your babies doing??? I know there were a bunch of us who delivered in December & January! How are your babies sleeping? Alex seems to only take 20 minute power naps during the day, which leaves me little time to get things done! There were 3 nights this week that she slept for 5 hours straight, but it seems that was a stroke of luck & now were back to 3 or so in a row. I'm averaging about 4 & 1/2 hours alltogether a night. When does it get better???? She also is still eating every 2 hours. (I'm BF). I try to hold her off as long as I can but I can never seem to make it to 3 hours. I sometimes "top her off" with 2oz. of formula to try & tank her up a bit, but she's like a clock & will show signs of hunger at the 1 1/2-2 hour mark! She's smiling/laughing a bit now which melts my heart! (In between her very fussy/gassy periods, which are MANY!!!!!!!!!)
I'd love to hear how all the other babies are doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ETA: Alex will be 6 weeks on Wednesday.

Re: Moms of December & January Babies Check-In...
Hi there... Jacob will also be 6 weeks old on wednesday and he is doing so so. We just got back from the GI dr today and he is now on Prevacid and Axid for the acid reflux. He is also has a milk protien allergy and a soy allergy so he has to stay on Nutramigen formula, but thankfully I got my insurance company to cover it for the next 6 months. (The only silver lining here)
We will see how he does on the Prevacid. He also eats like every 3 hrs and naps only about 20-30 min during the day which totally bites! When he is up he is crying. He will sleep at night usually 3 hrs, although last night he slept 5 hrs which i believe was a one time thing and prob due to the fact he was up from 3pm-12:30am straight with no napping at all!!! And of course the one night i could have slept, i couldnt, because my back is snapping in half from sleeping on the couch every night.
He is very demanding of me since he has been in so much pain and crying. I have been going to my MIL's everyday with him from 3pm-11pm to get some relief!!
But there are times (very few) when my little guy is happy and smiling and like andrea said it does indeed melt my heart!!!
So that is how my little one is doing, every day that goes by i say "its one day closer to him growing out of this"!!!!

Re: Moms of December & January Babies Check-In...
Ryan is doing really well. He will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. I feel really spoiled with him though. He is formula fed and eats about every 3-4 hours. He only cries/whines when he is hungry.. other than that he either sleeps or just sits quietly in his swing/bouncer/my arms. I know that he is still so young and that things can change-but I hope they don't! I was expecting to have a hard transition with having a baby but for me it is the total opposite. The only hard part is not getting a full night of uninterrupted sleep but I take naps during the day so its not that bad. All in all, things are going pretty good.

Re: Moms of December & January Babies Check-In...
Emma is doing great - She is 9 weeks today.
She started out having trouble with bowel movements/gas - after switching her formula 2x's - we seem to doing much better. We can get thru a feeding w/o any problems.
She's sleeping about 5 hrs straight a night - The past 2 nights she hasn't slept that well because she has a cold.
She'll eat every 3-4 hours and will take a long nap in the late morning, and again in the late afternoon. Her bedtime is around 10pm.
I have to say that at 8 weeks I really started to enjoy Emma - She started to smile all the time. Now she is cooing like crazy - She def. has a lot to say. lol She's also really alert - I can put her in her bouncy seat or swing and she'll just look around the room or out the sliding glass doors... It's so cute, the way she watches everyone, and everything.
ETA: This is for December/January Babies - Oops! She was supposed to be a December baby!

Re: Moms of December & January Babies Check-In...
Alyson is showing some signs of sleep improvement! Last night she ate at 9pm, 10:45, 1:45am, and then......7am!!! The only kicker was she was sleeping in the bed....but I'll take what I can get.
She's still taking 3 oz of formula at a time with a bottle of BM a day (if I'm lucky enough to get that much from pumping 3 x a day!! )
No smiling yet but it looks like she's trying to--she does a half smile in her sleep.
Napping during the day can be as little as 20-30 minutes or as much as a couple of hours....she fell asleep in the Snugli earlier and I put her down to nap on her belly and she's still sleeping (this was about 45 minutes ago or more).
She is VERY much a snuggle bug...LOVES to be held and cuddled by anyone. She seems to love the body warmth and being able to hear a heartbeat.
There are frustrating times but each day we fall more in love with her.

Re: Moms of December & January Babies Check-In...
Roman is 9 days old today, and is such a content baby. Since I had complications due to the anesthesia, I wasn't able to BF for almost a week but it seems to be going well now. He too is looking to feed every two hours. We've had a few nights where he slept 5-6 hours which scared me to death, but the pediatrician (Dr. Cavanaugh who is the greatest) said it was no big deal.
Mommy on the other hand is an emotional mess. I can't look at anymore baby montages without sobbing uncontrollably.
I have nightmares about my labor and become upset when I pass Winthrop Hospital. I looked at my belly and started bawling because I wasn't pregnant anymore. I'm having major hormonal issues

Re: Moms of December & January Babies Check-In...
Olivia is doing great. she will be 3 weeks old on thursday. i see changes in her every day. she a happy little girl. when we first got home she did not like sleeping at night but after a couple days of waking her up during the daytime we are now sleeping 4 hours spans at night. during the day i get 2-3 hours of napping in but she gets fussy and will cluster feed for about 2-3 hours and i feel like i cant get anything done. but i seem to multi task and bring things with me on the couch so i feel productive. i love the boppy pillow as i can prop her up and use the internet.
we went to the doctor last week and shes back to her original birth weight which is great. she loves to eat and can tell shes going to be a big girl. we gave her a bath for the first time yesterday and that was such a production. everyone is adjusting nicely even the cats who arent as inquisitive as before. i cant wait till the spring when its warmer and we can leave the house for walks and travel a little bit.
recently she started getting baby acne really bad around her eyes and on her forehead. ive been using the baby shampoo as some ladies have suggested but its still the same.
i could not imagine life without this little munchkin, the love i have for her is undescribeable. my dh has been great also he has helped so much and loves playing with her. since i have been pumping he gets to feed her on the weekends and i get to go to the stores or do errands for a couple hours. I did not realize how precious my time has become and hope sometimes that she sleeps 4 hours during the day to give myself a break.
hopefully in the spring we all can have a december/january baby gtg.

Re: Moms of December & January Babies Check-In...
Logan will be 6 weeks tomorrow. He is following somewhat of a schedule as far as sleep, but his constipation problem is still happening. I went to the Ped last friday who sent me to a radiologist to take an xray of his belly to make sure he wasnt full of you know what. He is now taking 2 ounces of pear juice a day to keep him more regular and if this doesnt work by next friday when I go back for his 6 week I have to go to a GI specialist. The Xray also revealed a fractured clavical (sp?) which was healing nicely...thank god because I never would have known about it. It must have happened during birth. And I question colic sometimes, but friends have told me that if I question it...its not colic. He loves falling asleep to the sound of the blow dryer when he is really upset. AND he is so smiley in the am I love it!!!
ETA: I'm halfway done with my maternity leave and am SOOO sad already
