Places to have a 1st birthday party?
All of these people who had babies around the same time as me are starting to plan thier little ones' first birthday parties and I haven't even started yet.
We have to do it at a restaurant or something like that becuase it will be in October so the weather won't be warm enough to do it at my FIL's house plus his house can't hold too many people.
We didn't invite extended family (just immediate family) to her Christening and I'm sure I P'd some people off.
I need suggestions. I am in the Levittown area but really don't know where to start. We can't do something TOO expensive because we just don't have the money. In fact I'm not even sure how we're going to afford it! I'd guestimate that there will be around 35-40 people.

How about Domenicos? My friend had her bridal shower there and the food was AMAZING!! It's on Hempstead Turnpike in a little shopping center.

Are you going to have a kid party or just adults with babies?
Inexpensive Kid Parties: Chuck E. Cheese Wood Kingdom Movie theatres - they can give you what animated feature is scheduled. Bowling Alley
Non-kid parties: hmmm...I've been to Domenico's - it was very good.
I'll have to think on Levittown places.

Barbara -- it'll be mostly family that has older kids -- teenaged kids -- and then my brother, whose daughter will be nearly 2, and my sister whose daughter will be 7 months old. So it doesn't really have to be kid friendly since there won't be many kids there --- although it should be a place that doesn't mind just a few babies.

Domenico's sounds like a great idea especially since you really don't have too many young ones. I don't know how their pricing is, though.
We had my son's 2nd birthday @ Olive Garden in Westbury (they have a private room). It was just a family party (close to 30 ppl), and it was SO cheap!!!! You can also check out Bertucci's in Westbury - they're reasonable and have a private room, too.

I checked out thier website right now and the cheapest "menu" for parties is $25/pp.
I don't even know where to start on this but it sounds expensive to me!!!!

Re: Places to have a 1st birthday party?
I just thought of a place that was reasonable......what about Rana's in Merrick on Merrick avenue. I think they have packages that start at $14.95.

We had our rehersal dinner there.. it wasnt very expensive and the food was very good.
I also have to get on the ball with planning DD's 1st birthday and am running into the same problem because it is October and also Columbus day weekend. So my white post farm party went right out the window because of their fall festival.
How about Hemingway's or the Wantagh Inn? They are pretty good as well, price and food wise.

I don't have any children yet, nor have I gone to a party at this place My-Gym.com -- I just thought it might be helpful.
Here's more: Gymboree Play and Music
Sesame Place

Re: Places to have a 1st birthday party?
Since you bumped I will reply!
I had Michael's bday party at The Memorare Club in Seaford (Knights of Columbus) - I really liked it there. It's really nice too.
The Ground Round on Hemp. Tpke, also has a party room.
Singletons is a good place!
Domenico's is always an option.
There's The Wantagh Inn, Peppercorns (had my SIL's bridal shower here - LOVED it) (in Hicksville)...
I'll try to think of more!

Re: Places to have a 1st birthday party?
I don't actually, but the shower was cheaper than it would've been had I had his Christening there - I think they wanted $44 per person for the Christening. A birthday party may be cheaper - you know how these places are, lol, they jack the prices up for certain occassions! But if they can do it within your price range, I think it's a great place to have a party - the room is beautiful and the food was really good!

Re: Places to have a 1st birthday party?
FYI to anyone who finds this thread...we went to Peppercorns yesterday and they do not have any highchairs, only booster seats. DH and I found that very strange... anyhoo, back on the hunt for a place with a big room and good food!

Since we're bumping....
we ended up doing it at Singleton's and it was GREAT!
They DO have highchairs and I found them to be very welcoming to children. We had a small group --- so we just had a long table (around 20 people) in the regular restaurant, but they also have private rooms. The waitors were so nice to Emily and the other children, and are always when we go back there, since we go back for lunch/dinner often now.

I went the the other day and I love it although not sure if the room will work for the amount of people I'm inviting... still an option for us though, thanks!
