Kids a year apart
How many have 2 children about a year apart?
DH and I have agreed that we want to have another right away because we want them very close in age. I was wondering how it is, from a mother's prospective. I can imagine its crazy at times but my DH brought it up today and we started talking about it.

Mine are 3 years apart and after how challenging this year has been, I cannot even imagine if they were closer in age!
I wish you luck!!

We had originally planned it, but time got away from us. Ours are 22 months apart.

Re: Kids a year apart
Mine are 16 months apart and it's very hard for me during the week. Sarah is 18 months and Andy is 2 months. DH works very long hours, leaving at 6am and getting home around 10pm. My mom works full time, my dad lives in Georgia and ILs live in Florida, so I really don't have a lot of help. But it works out. And DH really pitches in while he's home.
The good part is that you are still into the bottle and diaper routine.
The bad - Sarah was really upset at first. Took her about 2 weeks to get used to seeing me hold Andy. She would walk as far away from me as possible to get around the house and wouldn't come near me. Now she is fine with it until she gets tired, then she wants me to spend time only with her. She never got mean with him, no hitting or kicking, just a lot of crying and whining.

Re: Kids a year apart
My nieces are 12 months apart and it has been rough on my SIL, even though the kiddos are on set schedules. It has just been hard. They were originally going to have a 3rd but I asked her recently and she said, not for at least another year or more. The girls are 22 months and 10 months now.

My brothers are 13 months apart, and it was a lot of work for my mom. I myself couldnt have my kids that close in age. I feel its a lot of work.

Re: Kids a year apart
Me and my sister are 13 months apart and my sister and brother are 13 months apart!!
It was alot of work for my mom - but my mom was a SAHM and also had lots of help from my grandparents that lived upstairs.
At times growing up - we had a bit of jealously among each other because we were all close in age and into the same toys etc. - but its been a great experience having siblings close in age - go for it!!
I can't wait to have another one and DD is 6 months old.

Re: Kids a year apart
My first 2 are 17m apart, and my baby is 2 1/2 years younger than # 2.
so now I have ages 4, 2 1/2 and newborn
The boys are not NEARLY as "bad" as I thought theyd be with the baby. Yes they give a little pinch here and there, but for hte most part they love him, and fight over hugging and kissing him. MY oldest constantly wants to feed him and hold him (and mommy lets him ) and they help me when I need something. they are like ten year olds. theyre both VERY self-sufficient (unless theyre with daddy, he spoils them wayyy to much)
as far as the difference betw the first 2, yes it was very hard. My oldest was still a baby (17m) so he had to "grow up fast" in many ways, but seeing them now makes it all so worth it. They are buddies, they are glued at the hip, they have more laughs and great times together. They look for eachother every second one is missing, they whisper to eachother, play hide and seek, and of course wrestle eachother to the ground and having "fights" too, but thats when referee mommy comes in I personally felt that more than 3yrs apart is the "line" where you might be less close to a sibling because at that age difference you start to have less in common as you get older. jmo. Ive seen it in my own family and with others. and yet I wanted more than 2 yrs betw #2 and 3, just to have it spaced out a bit more
