Pool ?

About how much does a pool cost to operate per year??

Most of the homes we are looking at have one and we dont really NEED one but if it costs a lot to keep it going I'd rather just get rid of it.

Re: Pool ?

We have used ours for a total of 20 times in the past two years. The chemicals are about 100- 150 but the electricity to keep the filter running is expensive. It is also very time consuming. I am hoping this year my son can use since he will be 1 1/2.
We should take ours down we live right around the block from a free community pool.

Re: Pool ?

Im not sure on the chemical prices, DH does that but I do know during the summer months the electric plus the A/C is very$$$$$$$$. the water too gets more $$$ b/c you have to fill it up and then whatever condensates you have to fill up too. but it is sooooooooo worth it!!!!

edited to say its the maintenance too that keeps you busy-

I don't know how much $$$ is costs but our house came with an inground pool - my electric bill is cheaper in the summer than in the winter. We have the pool filter on a timer. Plus we have a heater which is electric but we only used it once last year.

I think chemical cost about 200-300 a year
