For moms that dont have family by them, how did you handle it when your baby was born
DH and I will be moving sometime I think in May due to him getting a new job offer that was to good to pass up and gives me the oppourtunity to be a SAHM. Us moving means that we will be 70 miles from our family which I know doesnt seem like alot but my I live 5 minutes from my parents now and 25 minutes from my IL's. How did it take a toll on you emotionally with no one around? I know it will be difficult but I am nervous I will suffer from depression and not sure how to prevent it if it is even possible. Not mention my mom is playing the guilt trip even thought I know she doesnt mean to so it makes it even more difficult.

Re: For moms that dont have family by them, how did you handle it when your baby was born
Well, my family isn't far away, my mom lives 5 minutes away, but she was caring for my elderly grandmother at the time, so she couldn't help me. My ILs came up from Florida for 3 weeks, but were afraid to pick her up since she was so little, so they didn't really help either.
It wasn't that bad at first. I was on this sort of natural high and was ok going without a lot of sleep. I did have a little depression, Sarah had her days and nights mixed up at first and then was colicy, so she cried a lot. One day DH came home from work and I told him that she didn't like me or living in our house and we'd have to find somewhere else for her to live. I learned to nap when she did to try to catch up on sleep. It didn't always work, but did enough to keep me going. But as she got less cranky it got better, and now it's a lot of fun. Still a lot of work, but fun.
My grandmother recently moved to a nursing home, so my mom will be able to help me out some when the new baby arrives in June, but she works full time so it won't be a whole lot of help.
I hope that helps. It can be done. Good luck!
