Your gonna think I am crazy but...

I know this is going to sound weird but and that many of you will say count your blessings but I just wonder if anyone else has a baby like mine??

Megan is a week old and is SO GOOD! She sleeps all the time. Now she wakes up for a couple of hours during the day but basically cries for nothing (except when hungry but its more like whining). She is so content and I feel like I am not doing much for her at all. The doctor said shes just a very good baby so far and I should be happy. I am happy but I cant help but think there is something wrong.

Was anyone elses newborn like this? I just thought this would be such a crazy insane time with feedings and crying and waking in the middle of the night and so far, shes just awesome. Anyone?

TO answer your question, Ive always said, all my boys *knock on wood* have been GREATTTTT babies. Toddlers, thats another story Chat Icon
Luciano is also very quiet, calm, content and SOOO low maintenance! The Dr. even said to him "WOW you dont make much noise, do you ?" Chat Icon If he spits up, even projectile once or twice, he just continues as if nothing happened. He's just soo good natured and soo easy going...

Thats great, but here is the truth about babies...The only constant is change! Newborns usually sleep a lot in the day as they have a lot of recovering to do from the whole birth experience!!

Make sure that you sleep while she sleeps...its really important that you do that! My boy is 8 months old and I still have a nap when he has his in the morning!!!

I felt the same way at first- for the first 2-3 weeks I kept saying "what is so hard? What was everybody talking about?"

At 3 weeks she started screaming and didn't stop until 3-4 monthsChat Icon

Enjoy it now! And definitely sleep when baby sleeps.

Re: Your gonna think I am crazy but...

My DD was like that and still is at 14 weeks. She sleeps 12-13 hours night and has been doing that since 9 weeks...about 3 weeks she started to only get up once a night usually around 3 or 4 am. When I first brought her home she would go to sleep by 8pm and get up twice once at 2am and another around 5am then sleep till 7 or 8.

She also only cries when hungry...I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop but it never did. Enjoy, it is so nice to have an easy, happy babyChat Icon

My DD was like this in the beginning too. I felt like we were the luckiest parents in the world. Now, at 4 months old I feel like I spend most of the day trying to prevent the crying or just trying to stop the crying. Enjoy this time while it lasts -- which I hope it does forever for you! I lucked out with Joseph. He was a textbook-angel baby. I could change his clothes & diaper while he was sleeping. Hand him to anyone without crying. He was perfect. And then he turned 18 months. Toddlerhood/Preschool has made me wonder where that wonderful sweet boy went. I think it was all part of his master plan - to suck me in, make me love him & then throw himself on the floor if I closed the refrigerator door and HE wanted to do it.

Maddie was a tough baby. Very clinging, crying. No one could take her - she only wanted me. But she's an angel in her toddlerhood/preschool. Now if I could just stop her from learning from her older brother, I may have a shot at a sane household.

Enjoy this time. You just participated in a miracle...and may she never turn into the evil toddler or baby.

Re: Your gonna think I am crazy but...

DD is like this!! As a newborn she was up every 2 1/2 hrs to eat but other than that....did not cry for anything! She still only fusses when she's got a dirty diaper, hungry, or tired.

And even when tired....she's not cranky, just won't focus on one thing and won't sit still and very cliingy.

Count your blessings but if she's good now, she'll be good for you forever!

My DD was like that too. Even now she'll only really fuss for food, dirty diapers and when she's tired. She was always a good sleeper too.

She's soo good, Dh and i joke the next one will be born with a tail and horns. Chat Icon

Re: Your gonna think I am crazy but...

My kids were like that. I remember people calling when the were first born & asking if they were out somewhere. It was a very quiet house. God, do I miss those days!! She will sleep ALOT. they are very content at this time. Eat, sleep, poop..that's about it! ENJOY IT!!
