"Ugliest Dog in the World Contest"
im sorry but THIS just gets me so mad!
maybe these dogs arent the cutest littleguys, but submitting your dog to an UGLY contest is so wrong. why do you even have a dog then?! to win these things??
lol of course theyre mostly old chinese cresteds.... but thats besides the point.
i just think its mean.

Re: "Ugliest Dog in the World Contest"
I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I think it's weird, but kind of cute. Obviosuly these owners love their dogs.
I can understand the psychologicla trauma this would cause a human child, but the dog doesn't know, and hte "ugly" dogs are actually cute in their own way.

Re: "Ugliest Dog in the World Contest"
If these contests didn;t exist, and there weren't a market for "ugly dogs", these dogs would most likely end up being euthanized shortly after birth, because people ordinarily go for the cutest puppy. Unless it's for the novelty of an "ugly dog" lots of these dogs wouldn't even be adopted.

Re: "Ugliest Dog in the World Contest"
I think its so sad to start a contest like this... but the owners take pride in and love their "ugly" dogs so I guess its ok.

I don't understand why the pug is in the contest - I have one and think they are the cutest dogs but I digress - I do think the contest is pretty bad...

I think they are adorable. They aren't being mistreated, I actually think it's kinda funny. JMO, but maybe it's not meant to be too so seriously.

LOL--Aww, I do feel bad in a way, but yet its funny.
And if I'd have to choose, Victoria is a bit scary lookin. Aww--poor thing!
These ugly dogs probably get the BEST love from their owners.....I wouldnt worry bout it. They dont know they're running for an UGLY contest, as far as they're concerned, they're beautiful!!

Re: "Ugliest Dog in the World Contest"
why not the ugly dog contest? it isnt like the dog knows they are the ugliest dog - same deal with putting your dog in a cutest dog contest - i dont see a difference.
the owners obviously love their animals from the beautiful write ups they have, i think you need to get over it there isnt anything wrong with having an ugly dog and being proud of him/her.

I dont agree with it either. Some people, LIKE ME, consider their dogs their children. But I guess if the owners are entering them, they are aware of the fact that their dog isnt exactly the "cutest". But I happen to find all of those doggies that are considred "ugly", absolutely adorable.
I am sure the owners love their babies very much.

Re: "Ugliest Dog in the World Contest"
so long as the dogs don't care, whats the big deal? if people didn't register their dogs for these types of contests, they wouldn't exsist.

Re: "Ugliest Dog in the World Contest"
Jess, I'm with you as a dog lover, but I think that some of the owners love their pups so much and opened their hearts when others would have said no, so in a way, the owners are celebrating their little gifts. Yeah, their pretty ugly, but from the write-ups, they have huge hearts and it's nice to see that people see that.

Re: "Ugliest Dog in the World Contest"
i see alot of you said that the dogs owners must love them alot... i dont understand this. im not sayign that they dont, but i dont see how entering your dog in something like this shows your "love" for it....
if you love your children would you enter them in an ugly child contest? this is the way i see it as.
i just think is wrong. its like saying "Here, make fun of my dog"......and i think that is messed up
its just mean and the dogs cant defend themselves. if they could talk and know whats going on im sure they wouldnt be happy about it.
