Teething or ear infection...
About 3 weeks ago- Ryan was fussing alot at night- and pulling on his ears... he had no fever- but I wanted him to get check out anyway- and sure enough he had an ear infection...
10 days of amoxicilin.... and yet still pulling on his ears...
So last week I brought him to the Dr. to have a "re-check" and the Dr said his ears were all clear.... BUT in addition to his 2 top teeth that had come through- he was getting his incisiors... (which I can see at all...???)
Well- now here we are this week.... still mushy, fussy, and pulling on his ears.... (a little runny nose too) still no fever- but Im not sure what to do...
Is it teeth?? Is it an ear infection? He was just there last week and was all clear... and just finish antibiotic last week... Could it of coome back???
Then today at work- my MIL dropped him off to me... and I wanted to try and get a little extra work in- so I dropped him in the baby room- and he completly flipped....
Not sure if its cuz he dosent feel good, because there were more kids than last time, or if its cuz he just feels like being a momma's boy today....
Hmmm...??

Re: Teething or ear infection...
I cannot tell you how often I have brought DS/DD to the doctor for an ear infection to realize it was teething pain. Both of my kids have/had ear tubes and I ALWAYS assume that it's the ears. In babies, the pain in their mouths feels like it's coming from their ears, so they pull on them. My general rule is to give Tylenol and see if it helps. If it helps a lot, it's usually teething. If the pain seems the same or not much better, an ear infection. Also, I have had times when the infection wasn't completely cured by the antibiotic. If it persists, call the ped. just to be safe. Good luck!

Re: Teething or ear infection...
I am gonna say teeth. I just had this debate with myself and we took her to the doc. She has a cold, but she is also cutting 2 teeth on the bottom and her top gums are super-swollen...
She has been grabbing her ears for about 3 days, but they said that other than all her ear wax (ew!) she was clear (and Bella is prone to ear infections)
Hope Ryan feels better soon!

Re: Teething or ear infection...
My son has been tugging at his ears too and it's due to teething. I know, when I have had teeth issues myself, the pain runs along the jaw and up to the ear. So that's probably why they're pulling at their ears.
Hope he feels better soon.
