Re: How Much is it to spend a week in Disney?

We went about 2 years ago afor a softball tournament for DH and we were there 3 days and we spent about $500-$600 Chat Icon
Not including the hotel....And we only went to Disney itself.....The biggest problem is food. The food at the hotels was crazy. It was like $8.50 for a beer and the hambuger meals were like $18.75.

Eating out even at the cheap resturants seemed to cost a lot. And then souveniors etc.

We stayed at the All Star hotel( the sports one) It was ok if you dont plan to spend a lot of time in the rooms, the pools were nice, the rooms were small..no imentities, like no coffee maker, no hair dyrer, but I think it was less then $150 a night.

For a week in disney I would say without air fare.....for hotel and sightseeing etc , it would be Between $1500-$2000 if you budgeted it.

although frequent disney goers can probably give you great tips on saving money.

Re: How Much is it to spend a week in Disney?

i have many great money saving tips, but due to the fact that Rich is an un-tenured teacher, we can only vacation when there is no school, and those money saving tips are useless!!! We were going to go to Disney for a long weekend (3 days - MLK Jr.) in Jan., but it's just not doable.

We still have days left on our parkhopper passes from the last time we went, so with the cheapest flight and cheapest hotel (All star pop century for $77/night), it came to $1500. FOR 3 DAYS!!! And that doesn't include spending money for food, souveniers, etc.

As much as we'd loooove to go, $1500 for 3 days is totally unaffordable. Chat Icon

we went in August (from the 28th to sept 2nd). For 5 days, it came to about $2,000 for the 2 of us (that includes air fare, hotel, tickets, everything)... but, that also included meals (breakfast, dinner and snack), AND an extra 5 days on our parkhopper pass (we bought the 10 day pass, b/c it was just a little bit more, and made the 'daily' price per ticket soo much cheaper). So, without that, it wouldve been just under $1,700. and we stayed at a moderate resort and got the king bed (if we stayed at the value resort, it wouldve been about $300 less, AND upgrading to the Kind bed was an extra $89).

There are Definitely ways to make it very affordable... you just have to do some research. We could have easily saved over $500 had we not done certain upgrades, car rental, etc...

Re: How Much is it to spend a week in Disney?

Here are some prices to give you an idea:

If you want to stay off Disney property the cheapest hotel:

Hj Express Inn Parkside at a AAA rate of $48.51 per night (hotel is also pet friendly)

Keep in mind you would need to rent a car.

Disneyworld is about 5 miles from the hotel.

Another hotel off Disney property however listed as an upscale hotel: Ramada Plaza and Inn Gateway

Recreation
On-Site Recreational Activities: Amusement Park Baseball Bicycling Cricket Dancing Golfing Jet Skiing Jogging Night Clubs Tennis Universal Gym

Rates vary from $63.50 - $119 per night.

Rental car would be needed

On Disney property
The value hotels
All Star Music
All Star Spors
All Star Movie
Disney Pop Century

All at a rate of $115 per night
All have free shuttle buses to the park

However if you package the hotel and park passes you can get a total of $1,141.86. (one week for 2 people)

Disney Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter will run you about $175 per night.

The more well known such as Gaylord Palms Resort, Walt Disney World Swan, Disneys Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disneys Polynesian Resort will all run from $255 per night to over $450 per night. Standard rooms.

Air you can get cheap by using Jetblue, or Song airlines. Whatever you do stay away from USA3000. They are not the most reliable airlines.

If you travel on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday it will be cheaper then traveling on a weekend. Song and Jetblue are ranging in prices from $355 - $385 per person from Monday to Monday (dates I looked into were Feb 20 - 27)

If you are AAA they may have packages which will include air, car and hotel or just air and hotel.

also if you contact disney directly they may have reduced rates and include the passes for you.

Sometimes packaging the air, hotel and passes may be cheaper then individual rates.

Please keep in mind I am a Disney certified specialist so any Disney Questions you may have feel free to FM me.

5 days was perfect for us.

we went down on friday afternoon, and met up with DebG for dinner and hung out. Then went to the resort and just strolled around for the evening. Then we hit all of the parks, and left friday night. We went to every park, downtown disney, and one of the water parks (we did the water park on the last day, and basically spent the whole morning cruising the Lazy river Chat Icon ). DH had picked up the unofficial guide to WDW, and planned the whole itinerary based on when they said were the slow/busy times (getting to the parks As soons as they open is KEY to getting on the rides that are in high demand)... So, as 'anti-planing' as i am... the way he planned it was Perfect, and we got to go on Every single ride that we wanted to (and went on a some of them Many times)- without waiting at all.
The only reason i could see needing anymore days that that would be if its Really busy, and you dont get to go on all the rides that you want to... but for us, 5 days at the parks was plenty. Chat Icon
