Painting 6 panel doors

I did one side of one door so far and looks like crap
am I supposed to do 2 coats on each side???
is there an easier way to do this I wonder

I painted mine with 2 coats each and used a sponge roller. They came out very nice.

Definitely 2 coats. I used a brush around the inside of the panels and then a small sponge roller to do the rest and it came out great.

yup - after 2 coats the door didnt look great - it kept soaking up the paint

Yes, because it's new wood and it soaks up the paint.

Same things happens with new sheetrock, even if you prime it often takes three coats.

Always remember to paint in the direction of the wood grain.Chat Icon

I finished them last night and did 2 cioats on almost all sides and 3 coats on 1 side

they came out really nice
