Re: Jobs for a Psyc BA?
Could you talk to the college career center where you went to school? I work at Stony Brook, where the most popular major is psych. We have a whole brochure about what it prepares you for, but basically you need a graduate degree if you want to work in the psych profession. It's a good background for advertising, marketing, law, since it taught you to better know how people think and feel. Many students with us work with the group homes or disability services.

I agree... there really isn't much you can do with a BA in psych although I do have some friends who work in group homes with developmentally disabled adults.... it stinks because its kind of a worthless degree (I worked in a bank with my BA in psych until I got my masters because I couldn't do anything else with it).

my sister has the same degree and is currently pursuing her masters in teaching. she's worked several jobs in special ed and will continue to do so once she graduates. she has also expressed interest in becoming a school psychologist, however i don't know what type of additional schooling would be required.
she would need at least a Masters in School Psych

Re: Jobs for a Psyc BA?
I have a BA in psych and I have my masters in social work. The reason I did this was so I could do private counseling at a Master level. Psych is always tough bc really you should go to the end and get a doctrine. IMO you should do the MSW program then follow it up with a doctrine back into psych. That was my path and I currently do counseling as well as my ft job as a social worker.

I worked as a counselor in a group home for adults with mental illness before I got my MSW ( I had a BA in psych).
