Britney Spears Gives Birth to Baby Boy, Report Says
LOS ANGELES (Sept. 14) - Pop singer Britney Spears gave birth to a baby boy at a Los Angeles hospital on Wednesday, Us Weekly magazine reported on its Web site.
Representatives for Spears were not immediately available for comment on the report, which said the 23-year-old entertainer gave birth by Caesarean section shortly before 1 p.m. PDT (1700 GMT) at Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center. Hospital officials declined to comment.
The magazine said Spears was taken to the hospital early on Wednesday morning with a police escort and accompanied by her husband, dancer Kevin Federline.
Spears, who married Federline in September last year, had been previously reported as saying she planned to have the baby by Caesarean section to avoid the pain of a natural birth.
The singer became a worldwide pop phenomenon at the age of 16 and has sold more than 60 million albums. She made no secret of her desire to become a mother at a young age and put touring, performances and public appearances on hold after her marriage.
Federline, 27, has two young children by his former girlfriend, actress Shar Jackson.

With a response like that, you wonder if she's even ready to be a parent.
She probably elected to have a C-Section so she could get a tummy tuck while she is being operated. Oh Hollywood!
IMO I'd rather go through the few hours of pain rather than a few weeks of pain that they say is associated with a C-Section.

Why is that so bad? Plenty of people prefer this - I think she's just getting sh!t because of who she is. I would prefer this as well and largely for the same reason.

Wow, how holier than thou is this statement?? It's none of anyone's business. She's not putting the baby's life in danger - hell, if anything, it's safer for the baby since it's a direct route, there's no worry about breech birth, etc.
I can't believe that people have such strong opinions on what reasons are "ok" to say you want a c-section. One would think there are more important things to think about than whether the latest pop star's kid starts his life between her legs or out her belly

My understanding is that the recovery from a c-section takes longer. In fact I think my job gives additional time off if you had to have a c-section.

i think the celebrities get c-sections to avoid pelvic floor dysfunction and b/c of their shedules...tons of them opt for the sections instead of vaginal deliveries...

I agree. I think I would try to deliver vaginally, but if someone chooses to do a C-section, I don't really have a problem with it. As long as mom and baby are healthy post-delivery, what's the difference?
I have had a sister and friend go through over 24 hours of labor and then have a C-section anyway. Unless I have had that experience, I don't think I am in any position to judge.

After feeling the pains of labor and THEN having a c-section ( yes it hurts like a B!tch afterwards ), I'd much rather have a scheduled c-section the next time around...thank you very much.

I agree...if I choose to have a c-section why should there be people telling me I'm taking the easy way out or that I am not ready to be a parent??

Re: Britney Spears Gives Birth to Baby Boy, Report Says
Im not saying she or anyone shouldnt have children. I was saying if you are worried about pain you should re think it. I would THINK that a c-section would be MORE painful then vaginal? That is major surgery and longer recovery time. As long as the baby is healthy then It really doesnt matter. But I am allowed and opnion just like everyone else. With a vaginal delivery you can some meds to make you not feel it either.
My personal preference would be to have a vaginal delivery (if the time ever comes) rather then a c-section. Of course if a c-section is needed medicaly or emergency then do what you gotta do. I dont understand the people who get upset when they need a c section because the baby isnt coming out.
Again this is my personal opnion. We all know pain goes along with childbirth but once you hold that baby it all goes away
And on another note... People have been having vaginal deliverys forever you cant really say its safer to have a c-section. The baby isnt coming out they will do it anyway. If the baby is breech they will do it anyway. If the baby turns they will try and turn the baby or do a c-section anyway.
If I was worried about pain then I dont know if id want a baby. That was my thought.
thats my opinon and im sticking to it

He cant just be the husband... he needs to be a husband/dancer.

Re: Britney Spears Gives Birth to Baby Boy, Report Says
A c-section IS better for the baby...for the baby wont go into distress, however is more dangerous for the mother...or at least thats what Ive been told...
I have friends who have had c-sections and recoverd just as nice as though who delivered vaginally...there are also people who dont heal as well or as quickly...
Personally...being VERY frightened for whats a head of me.. I would rather have a c-section...but thats not up to me...
YES IM A CHICKEN and IM SCARED OF THE PAIN...however I dont think thats gonna make me any less of a good mother... or does it mean I shouldve rethought having children..

Re: Britney Spears Gives Birth to Baby Boy, Report Says
As far as pain of giving birth, its going to hurt no matter what but maybe it scared her to have pain while having the baby and would rather the recovery pain.

My two cents-we try to tell kids all the time, don't have sex, no more teenage mothers, etc. Then we are made to watch The Journey of Life or whatever in health class and get the bejesus scared out of us when we watch this woman screaming her head from the pain. Then we see this girl/woman, and I'm sorry, I think they both need some growing up and how she is having an elective c-section. I'm sorry, but it's SUPPOSED to ****. The pain is a given and maybe if you're not ready for the pain, maybe you're not ready for the job. With great privileges comes a $hitload of other crap. And not only that, all the people I know who have had C-sections and natural say that C-sections are far worse because the pain in the long run can be worse. And now the flaming will begin
For all those who would prefer one, fine, I'm not saying you're terrible people, I swear and you know, maybe one day, it'll be my choice, who knows, but I just feel that our bodies are designed to give birth and sometimes messing with mother nature isn't the wisest thing to do. Sorry, it's the holistic upbringing I had.
