Re: Did your real estate agent attend your prepurchase inspection?

our agent was there with us, I think that's pretty normal (?), we were never let alone at the house, there is always an agent with us (ours or seller's)...

if you feel uncomfortable, you should speak to your inspector before hand that you prefer he go over the inspection report with you only (or your DH, and family members), then later share the info with your agent if you chose to.

Our inspector actually was the one who said he prefer NOT to have our agent listen in when he went over the report with us.

Thank you!
I did actually speak with the inspector and asked that no information be provided to the real estate agent. Also, DH will be there to make sure everything is on the up and up.
I just feel like our agent will do just about anything to make sure this deal goes through!

I know what you mean.
If you need a recommandation, let me know. Our inspector was excellent!

Good luck! Chat Icon

The agent usually attends the walk through.

Re: Did your real estate agent attend your prepurchase inspection?

we brought my parents with us to the inspection to keep the seller and our real estate agent occupied. I also had my mom talk to the painter I had measuring/looking at the rooms and had my dad measure the rooms. It was SOOO helpful to have them run interfearance so DH and I could be with the inspector.

At then end of the inspection I basically had the inspector tell the seller's RE that there were 2 probs and the seller would need to fix them. This helped me so much. They were minor, but we got $$ off the purchase price. That made us happy and well worth the inspectors fee.

Re: Did your real estate agent attend your prepurchase inspection?

Our agent was at both our preinspection and our final walk-thru.

They come because they don't want you to be alone with the seller, because they don't want you to make a side deal.

Even the seller's agent was at the walk-thru.

However, my agent didn't walk around with us, rather she kept the seller out of the inspector's way so they could tell us anything that might not be up to snuff.
