okay .. a mother's day question...

Am I wrong that this bothers me?

My DH doesn't drive --- but has been asking me for weeks what I want for mother's day and I've given him some subtle hints but nothing outright...

Now this morning he was textmessaging his friend alll morning because he has to go out shopping, and his friend was obviously busy because he wasn't calling him back...

So he just got in touch with him now and they just went out...

But shouldn't he have thought of mother's day in advance? It's our first Mother's Day and I kinda hoped that he'd put some thought into it at least. He was still asking me this morning what I wanted.

I have that fight with my DH every single holiday (mothers day, anniversarys, christmas, birthdays!)!! He doesn't understand why I get upset because he "got" me something...... I get upset because he waits till the last FRIGGIN second to do itChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I try to tell myself that men are just stupid.... maybe one day they'll catch on!Chat Icon I completely understand!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA - I'll let you know if he does the same thing tomorrow (running out in the morning to get flowers Chat Icon )... as far as I know he hasn't put any thought into it AGAIN!

Chat Icon I know! I don't think DH got anything yet. I bet he comes home from work tonight and decides he better shop. Grrr. He usually fills out the card right before he hands it to me.

I guess he isn't the only last-minute hubby.Chat Icon

Where do you think my DH is now???? Chat Icon He took our DD "out for some air" Chat Icon and has been gone for a long time! Does he think I'm stupid? He never takes DD anywhere by himself. This is our first mother's day also.Chat Icon

The way I see it.... its the day before Mothers Day so this is in advance. He connected with his friend and is out shopping now, right? That sounds good enough to me. I know my DH is probably out with my son getting cards now and trying to come up with something

I would be annoyed. How about this... this year my DH filled out my anniversary card in the bathroom (if you know what I mean Chat Icon ) 5 minutes before he rushed down and gave it to me. Most men just aren't like women at all when it comes to occasions. Gotta love em though!

Re: okay .. a mother's day question...

Well -- he came back and didn't even get me a gift. He was going to get me a new cell phone because Emily ate mine and fried it --- it was bad as it was -- I would always drop calls -- and then she got a hold of it and now it doesn't work at all -- but they wouldn't let him buy the phone because his name isn't on the account -- so we're going tomorrow for me to pick out a new phone. I'm glad for that, because I can't not have a cell, but was still hoping for a surprise of some sort. Oh well!!

Re: okay .. a mother's day question...

My DH is the same way. I'm lucky if he gets me a card! Chat Icon He'll say he didn't have time to get me anything while all day today he slept! Chat Icon We'll see, but I doubt I'll get anything or he'll do anything for me. I really don't care about a gift. Him getting up with my son and letting me sleep past 6:30am for the FIRST time in almost 2.5 years would be plenty for me along with a card of course! Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Your DH is exactly like mine. Lucky for him we took a trip to the mall on Friday and he purchased my gift while I looked in another store AFTER I already picked my gift out Chat Icon. Then, I head to the supermarket and he tells me to get myself flowers. I told him "Absolutely not. I can get myself flowers any day. If YOU want to buy me flowers, you have to get off your butt and get them yourself" Chat Icon

Well..now I don't feel so bad about my DH. He also went out yesterday shopping. However, I appreciate that he and my step-daughter gave me gifts this morning...but niether of the gifts I recieved, are even my taste...it's like he doesn't know me at all. I guss it's the thought that's supposed to count, right. Chat Icon

Re: okay .. a mother's day question...

Well- my Dh thought in advance and my present has still not arrived Chat Icon

I told him he shoulve bought a back up- just in case this happened Chat Icon Chat Icon

He filled out my cards in the kitchen 2 minutes before he gave them to me, and it totally erks me!

And our "special day" has been ruined by yucky weatherChat Icon So he decided we should just stay home, and do nothing I guess... since he just went back to bed Chat Icon

I cant knock him for trying- but that dosent mean because his plan was unsuccesful- this day is now meaningless... Its true- some men just dont get it!
