we were thinking of a bassinet but decided it was prob just a waste of money for something thats to be used for a short amount of time. our room and the nursery are next to each other (like, on a slant, its hard to explain) but we can see into his room and will be able to hear everything so we decided to just keep him in his crib from the start.
but i do love it and think it's beautiful! we're just trying to be responsible w/ $$

Well I would not buy it. I was hoping someone would buy it for us
I have health problems that won't allow me to get up and move around for awhile so I figured this would be great for that. Our nursery is very close too but I am not even sure I will be able to make it upstairs for awhile.

this is beautiful! I was thinking about whether or not to use a basinet in the beginning. how many will use a cradle or bassinet and how many are going right to a crib?

Beautiful! Christopher wouldn't sleep in his bassinet. For the first few weeks he only slept in his car seat, his swing, or on DH and I.
