Re: If you have an open floor plan
We had that in my previous house. One wall of the hallway jutted out into the livingroom. Then one wall of the livingroom continued through the dining area and wrapped into the kitchen.
We found inspiration at our friend's house. She has the open split level floor plan and used three shades on the same color swatch.
We painted the livingroom, dining area and we only had a very small part of our kitchen Benjamin Moore's Pumpkin spice. The 4th wall in the livingroom that jutted out from the hallway was painted two shades lighter.
Hope that helps.

Re: If you have an open floor plan
I don't have current pictures...
This shows the kitchen/family room...
The family room is beige-ish (the bank painted it) and my kitchen is green now...like a sage/green apple combo. I plan on making the family room a soft blue so that the kitchen/FL will "flow" into each other since it's all windows and there's a lot of sky and greenery that I want to "blend in". Does that make sense?
