Is Folate the same thing as Folic Acid?
Also, is it bad to take too much Folic Acid? Like when you are planning on TTC within a years time should you not take over 400 mcg's? Would 800 be too much?
Thanks in advance

Yes it is the same thing... x-ate = x acid for anything. Lactate = lactic acid, citrate = citric acid etc
800 is not bad, folate is a water-soluble vitamin so it is someting you pee out if there's extra. Besides, it is recommended that women who can potentially become pregnant take 1mg of folate (=1000 mcgs). I've read up to 4mg in some of my books...
Fat-soluble vitamins like A or E could be bad if you take too much because you just store the extra and don't get rid of it.
I personally think the number of pills for 4mg would drive me nuts so I'm taking 800 - 1200mcg a day depending on if I feel like taking an additional pill once or twice a day...
I hope this helps!
