Carpet in their basement?

If you have installed carpet in your basement, what type did you go with and approx. how much did it cost? (for how much space...)

TIA

we carpeted our 12 x 24 family room (basement) with clearance berber carpet from home depot. We paid $120 for the piece of carpet, no padding & we glued it right to the sealed floor ourselves.

Don't go too crazy with the spending on it, as basement carpet can get ruined in an instant (flood, leaks, unknown mold problem).

And get a little extra padding, as it's generally a hard floor underneath which kids' heads are bound to find.

Completely agree with not spending too much. My parents had carpet in their basement and had to pull it up after a flood this past summer.

We plan on getting the berber carpet squares. They are *about* 16"x16" squres.Where if certain parts of the carpet get ruined for whatever reason... you just pull up the squares and put new ones down instead of re-doing the entire carpet.
