I never took the bumpers out becuase she likes to play in the crib and 'jump' around. Without them she would have hurt her head many times!

Jake's 11 months and I haven't taken them out. He tosses and turns so much in there that I know he would hurt himself without them.

I took them out around 2 months ago bc he kept untieing the strings. Somehow the kid can figured out how to untie a double knot.

Jared is 1 and I left them in. He sleeps right by the corners of the crib and I don't want him hitting his head.

nope, not yet and Jacob is almost 10 months. I have the fear that he would hit his head all the time so I left them on..

Re: Over 9 months old...do you have the bumpers in the crib?
I took Ryans out about a month or so ago- after finding him underneath them several times...
He does bump his head... but nothing major.... Id rather him have bumps and bruises- then for me to wake up to him being wrapped around them....

I'm afraid if he gets caught in them he'll suffocate. They have the reasoning at 9 months to move if they can't breathe, right?

It's funny you should post this. I was just saying to DH last night, while watching Jake in the video monitor with his face completely smushed up against the bumper, that I HATE when he does that. But yeah, he moves, and at 9 months he would definitely move.

I have a feeling this will be me too. DS' bumpers are still there over a year!

I took Jenna's out about a month ago, she found a way to get herself wedged in between the bumpers and the crib rails

Re: Over 9 months old...do you have the bumpers in the crib?
I just took Jack's out a few weeks ago (he is 20 months) and the only reason was that I needed to wash them and we are moving soon, so I packed them up.

Re: Over 9 months old...do you have the bumpers in the crib?
I took them off when Andrew turned 1. He kept rolling into the sides of the crib and was not happy at first. Now he's fine. It made me nervous how he seemed to snuggled into them at night so that's why I removed them.

Re: Over 9 months old...do you have the bumpers in the crib?
We took them out when Jesse was 8-9 months old. He moves all over the crib and likes to sleep against the rails but he's never hurt himself. We were concerned he'd climb out because he climbs on everything, and he still climbed out even after we removed them. We were also concerned he'd press his face into them when he sleeps and not breathe properly. I think he likes the crib without them because he's got more room to move around (they were very puffy).

Re: Over 9 months old...do you have the bumpers in the crib?
Yup, still have them. But she does stuff her face up against them so I made DH go out and buy really thin bumpers from BRU so I don't have to worry quite as much
