This is a re-post from the Pregnancy board...Gest. Diabetes??
Perhaps some of you can help me...
I am sooo upset. I was diagnosed with gest. Diabetes today. Has anyone gone through this or is going through this?? What should I expect? I am going to a specialist on Tuesday. Any info would be great.

I had it. The diet wasn't hard but it was so limiting of food. I actually lost 5 pounds. I had my daughter 5 weeks early, not because of the diabetes but I was so happy when I didn't have to test my blood or be on that diet.

I ate 2 eggs or 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with a light whole grain english muffin (by Thomas'), then for a snack I was able to eat 5 triskets with a tablespoon of peanut butter. Lunch was a big salad with some chicken and a little bit of dressing. Dinner was 3oz of meat, baked potato and lots of vegies. Then a small snack after that.
You have to measure everything, and I had to eat on a schedule (breakfast at say 8am, then snack around 10-10:30, lunch around 12:30-1pm; snack aroundd 3:30-4 , dinner around 6-6:30 and then snack around 9pm)

I had it too. Very low carbs, you will see nutritionist that will give you a diet to follow. I also had to prick my finger 4 times a day. I agree, the diet ***** but helped me not to gain a ton- towards the end my weight was staying the same and she was getting bigger. I was able to control it with diet only and Katie was born 6lbs 11 oz so don't let people scare you that you will have a huge baby (everyone has an opinion!) Feel free to fm me any time with any questions, I was upset too and the ladies here helped me so much!!!!
