AR Moms-I have some questions
The GI said to thicken Miranda's bottles with rice cereal. Did that didn't work (why did I thin it would, nothing else does).
Anyway she also said we could start solids. I am not too keen on doing this but I am willing to try it out.
What did you start with specifically and how much and when during the day.
Thanks!!

Re: AR Moms-I have some questions
I am sorry the cereal didn't work! It seems to be helping Katie a little bit.
Sorry I didn't answer your question.

Did it help right away? Tonight was the first try and it just all came back up.

Re: AR Moms-I have some questions
the cereal helped Bryan big time but I did it by spoon not in the bottle.I started with only 1 teaspoon which is really small, I know but I wanted to go slow because of all his issues and this I did twice a day for 1 week then I gave him a little bit of bannanas with cereal everynight for about 2 weeks then after that I started introducing more and more foods waiting 3 days for each new food for allergy reactions--- every time he tried a new thing though he tended to spit up a bit more than usual that day then he was ok with it.Now he rarely spit up his solids.

Is he still spitting up BM/formula? I am just so concerned about starting solids at 4 months. I am one of those who really believes in the 6 months or older rule but I am so desperate to find some relief from the spitting up. How old was Bryan when you started the cereal? What did you mix it with?

Re: AR Moms-I have some questions
I started Joseph on Oatmeal @ 12 wks and then added fruit at 14 wks and I took him off the Zantac at 16.5 weeks - it's been 2 wks now and he's fine!!! He's still nursing...
Good luck!!!

Re: AR Moms-I have some questions
sorry I didnt see this sooner but to answer your questions yes he still spits up formula but a much less amount than before so its better- he never spit up his food unless its something new. Also Bryan didnt start until almost 6 months on solids because of his allergies, I always mix with alimentum and the fruit in the cereal- it tends to stick better mixed with the cereal rather than straight from the jar- the veggies I do straight from the jar though- hew takes those really well I think because they are not acidic.

Re: AR Moms-I have some questions
Well the thickening the bottle problem is that the enzymes in the BM digest the cereal too fast so its not actually thick by the time she drinks the bottle down. Anyway I not stopping nursing or pumping just to thicken so I am just going to deal. I want her on breastmilk and to nurse as long as possible.
She did take cereal from the spoon this morning and did well. I did like you Antoinette and only gave her 1 teaspoon. I will try that again later today. About an hour after that she had a 3oz bottle and only had one spit up about an hour later. Maybe its a good sign.
Thanks for all the input. This AR is so frustrating at times.
