First IUI today!
I had my first IUI today at RSofNY.. Slight cramping.. but nothing much.
After my husband's first SA report came back, I was told that motility was under. He then had a second test done and today after the IUI the dr. told us that motility was fine.. it was morphology. I've been trying to read up if that is a problem with IUI, but haven't come across a whole lot of stuff.
Does anyone have "experience" with a successful IUI where DH's sperm morphology was not ideal? Also, I am not on any fertility medicine.. so is IUI really a good option? (I read the success rate can be as low as 6%). As I had posted before and many of you confirmed.. RSofNY does not listen! They just make you go through the entire protocol no matter what your situation.
I don't want to get my hopes high but pls wish me luck.

Re: First IUI today!
We have a male factor, which sounds like was worse than yours. IUI didnt help for us. Hopefully your problem is minor and this will be all you need. Baby dust to you!!!

Re: First IUI today!
Wishing you tons of baby dust !!!!
It all depends on how low the morphology is. Basically what that means is that for instance, if your dh has a 5% morph...then 95% percent of his sperm is abnormally shaped and can't fertilize an egg. 14% or higher is considered good morphology. I believe it's about 8-13% is the grey area...and....anything lower than 8% a good clinic would probably recommend IVF with ICSI. Male factor issues have the highest IVF success rates. Abnormal sperm can be used for icsi...they just can't penetrate the egg themselves.

I'm not really familar with male factor but it sounds like you should really look into it because IUIs won't help if there is a problem or concern with the sperm.
All it takes is one and I really hope that one found it's way today.
