For Scarletbegonia -- sweet & sour Meatballs.

This is my mom's friend Ginny's recipe and the first time I made them and was reading the ingredients I was like Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon but then I tried them and they were SOOO good. Everyone always loves them.

Sweet & Sour Meatballs

Sauce:
1 12oz bottle of Chili sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup grape jelly
1 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 small onion - finely chopped
1 tsp lemon juice

Meatballs:
1 1/2 lb lean ground beef
1/2 tsp salt
1 8oz can tomato sauce
3/4 c. dry bread crumbs

1. In a large saucepan combine all sauce ingredients and warm over low heat. Meanwhile, in a large bowl mix together all meatball ingredients and roll into small 1 inch meatballs.

2. Add meatballs to sauce mixture gradually and cook over medium heat for about 30-35 minuts, turning carefully from time to time.

3. refrigerate overnight if you are able to to let flavors blend. They can be reheated for 8-10 minutes in microwave.

They are so good. Just pile them up on the plate and put a cup of toothpicks there as well.

I also almost always double the recipe because they go like crazy.

Re: For Scarletbegonia -- sweet & sour Meatballs.

Can you make these in a crockpot? How long do you cook them for?

ETA: How many meatballs does the recipe above make about? I want to have them as an appetizer for my block party and not sure how many to make.
