Anyone pregnant, working full time and going to school?

If so, how are you handling it? We are TTC and this is a big concern of mine. I work full time and go to school at night for my Masters. I am so worried I wont be able to handle all three.

Re: Anyone pregnant, working full time and going to school?

I worked full time and went to school at night throughout my first trimester (we also bought our first house during this time too). Honestly I was fine - I was more tired AFTER I finished school than when I was in school. I think it kept me going.

I did take a class during my second trimester in the summer. A lot of sitting in class at night and at the computer on weekends. Two days after I finished I was put on bed rest, so I think the sitting for that long of periods might have done it to me (I'm also having twins though).

It's all up to you of course, and how supportive your DH is. Mine did the cleaning, painting, food shopping, etc. while I spent every waking moment sleeping or in front of a computer. HTH! Good luck!

I hope to be. I have 5 classes to go (I'm taking two of the five now) and I work. I hope to become pregnant within the next few months. How will it all get done? 1) I'm sure its all easier to handle when pregnant then when the baby is here. 2) Lots of help from DH 3) and if I have to cut down to one class at a time to finish I will. I might get some help cleaning the house too.

Re: Anyone pregnant, working full time and going to school?

I am doing it right now and I am due in February. I work full and part time and take two grad classes. The hardest thing for me is not keeping my energy up, it is the fact that I don't have much time with my DH during a very special time in our lives.

Physically I feel fine and mentally I get stressed a little but I don't think it is because I am pregnant but just because I have a lot going on.

It is tough but doable. I think it is actually better for me to be so busy. I don't have as much time to overreact to pg symptoms.

Re: Anyone pregnant, working full time and going to school?

I just finished this and it is doable!

My first and second trimesters I was taking 3 masters classes each to finish my degree (albeit I saved electives for my last semester, which I ended up taking using for some 'puff classes', cause at that point I just wanted to finish my program already Chat Icon ).
The worst for me was during my first trimester, I took 2 classes back to back same night, until 10 pm, and commuted from Lindenhurst from NYC, and some nights didn't get home until 11:45 b/c of the train schedule. The day after those classes I was dead. I called in sick once, just to sleep in!

I also didn't have m/s, which made things much easier. But it is doable. I had plenty of energy for my classes second trimester (My school trimesters pretty much coincided with pg trimesters).

Good luck and it will work out fine!

Well, I work full time which can go up to 50 hrs a week, and I work 2 part time jobs - 2 nights a week, and on Saturdays, plus I am studying for a huge board exam that my entire career is based on.... Tues nights and sundays are my study times... so, I am on a similar schedule, plus I'm 15 wks PG!!! Chat Icon Trust me - you can do it - its not easy, but its not impossible!!!

Ditto here. I work 70-80 hours with some class/lecture time mixed in there. Sitting for those lectures is a welcome break after being on my feet all day.

You will deal with whatever you have on your plate. If not, scale back. A leave of absence from school if things aren't going well isn't the worst thing in the world.

Re: Anyone pregnant, working full time and going to school?

I'm relieved to see so many women in the same situation as me.

I'm in grad school fulltime (3 evening classes a week).
I am also doing a hospital internship 4 days a week from 9-3.
Then I work weekends (flight attendant- so I am gone Sat til Mon).

My DH is currently living in Northern Virginia (where we are moving) while I am in our (unsold) house in Maryland.

At this point- we are currently seeing each other one night a week Chat Icon

It's not so bad. Because of my job, we are used to being apart. Plus, I'm so busy with classes and such- it's good for me to be alone so I can get stuff done.

My SIL did this and was pregnant with twins. She is an elementary school teacher, in a wedding band, went to school and managed to do everything.
