Constipation
I think i have it and don't know what to do. I have horrible gas and bloating since last night and have not had a bowel movement since Wed!! I am so frustrated because a book i have says not to take any over the counter stuff and eat fiber instead. I don't have any fiber enriched food right now in my house...
Did any of you have this and what did you do? Sorry if this is too much information but i am miserable.

Re: Constipation
I wouldn't take ANYThing without your dr's approval, CALL HIM< PAGE HIM/her TODAY! You shouldn't be stopped up that long!
What helps me is to drink lots of water, even if i think i am drink enough, i drink more.
Try to stay away from convenience foods, bleached white flour products, salty foods. Try to eat raisins, dried/fresh fruits, lettuce, veggies, raisin bran works for me! Gotta get that roughage and water in you! I can tell you since I changed what I eat/drink, I am not constipated at all, nor do I have those dreaded hemmoriods..
Try to go when you have the urge to also, no time for bathroom shyness
Soo sorry you are miserable, call that dr!

Re: Constipation
Definitely drink lots of water - and Colace and Metamucil works wonders!! Just wanted to add that if Colace is taken at night - you will have a bowel movement by morning.
Try to eat some fruits/drink prune juice in the meantime.
Constipation is one of the worst symptoms i had to go through in the beginning of this pregnancy.

Re: Constipation
I had it terribly in the 1st trimester! I was lucky to go once every few days and this is coming from a gal who is VERY regular who normally went that in a day When I got to my 2nd and 3rd trimester I started going more regular. I eat salad - veggies and or beans every day, eat fruit and drink a lot of water so maybe that does help.

Re: Constipation
Colace is usually prescribed because it is safe to take while you are pregnant. The dosage is usually 1 gelcap 3 times daily. It's over the counter. You may want to ask your doctor so you have more peace of mind but this is usually prescribed for pregnant women for contispation. You may also want to eat in the morning Raisin Bran Cereal.

Re: Constipation
I started out in the beginning of my first trimester going once a day (which I normally didn't go that often!) and now have slowed down - I read it can be due to your prenatals too - talk to your doctor ( i know , but its important!) I have been trying different types of prenatals still (for the past two weeks) and have seen a difference in how it affects me with it..
