The first few weeks with twins....
So for all the BTDT moms/dads....can you give us a birds eye view of what the first few weeks are like with twins? Did you have help? Everyone i speak to is telling me how exhausted you are with one newborn...they can't imagine what you go through with two. My DH is going back to work after one week off at home......and i have help of my family and will be recovering from a c-section....I just want to know what to expect.
If one woke up and cries, did the other one? Were you getting up every other hour because they were on different schedules? Did they nap together?
Thanks!

Re: The first few weeks with twins....
I attempted to have them on the same schedules. I can remember one waking up & then taking aboout an hour to feed, wind/burp, change her nappy. Then just as I was falling asleep The other would wake up. My husband was good at night & he would take one. It does take time. Take naps when you can. Cleaning can get done any other time. Your sanity is more important.

Re: The first few weeks with twins....
We only had one home at first, but people made it like it was going to absolutely horrible being a paretn to twins. I found it so much less workj then I had expected. It was a lot of work but people had me so scared. When they both came home, I made them on the smae schedule, but the NICU helped in that thye were already on a 3 hour schedule. When both boys came home Vin stayed home fro 2 weeks and it helped alot. My mom stayed over the first night Joey came home because he would nto stop crying and wa not eating well, but after that we were good to go.

Re: The first few weeks with twins....
Actually, its now that I could use the extra help!!!! When I brought them home they slept alot. I was breastfeeding them (which was probably what made it seem harder) - so they ate and slept. They were not on the same schedule but it was pretty similar. After I stopped breastfeeding my husband took one at night which is a HUGE help.

Re: The first few weeks with twins....
My best friend has twin baby girls and her Mom comes over every day. All I can say is get used to crying yes one does wake the other. If you can turn a deaf ear to the crying you should be fine. She is bottle feeding which IMO is more difficult than BF because it takes so long. roughly 1/3 hr to 45 minutes per baby including changing. Also make sure you hubby is helpful. Hers really isn't that helpful and it's a lot harder on her because of that
