Another BF question Sorry!

So I am down to 2 BF feedings a day. I didn't want to cut one more out leaving only 1 boob drained for the day.

So I quit cold turkey yesterday.

DD had all bottles yesterday. My boobs are feeling heavy, and getting warm...I am worried plugged ducts are on their way.

Did I make a boo boo? Are they just regulating from having no use?

It just never ends for meChat Icon

Hmmm... I remember I had gotten down to maybe 2 feedings a day, and then quit cold turkey and it didn't quite work. You have to be careful, so if you're starting to feel heavy and warm, maybe you should pump just to relieve the pressure - only for a minute or two. A few days of this, and you're body will get the hint and start to wean completely...

Re: Another BF question Sorry!

hmmm, I don't know about actually BF-ing becuase I exclusively pumped, but I would cut down on the time that I pumped each day until I didn't have to pump at all. Well, actually, now I pump every, other day for a few minutes so I don't leak all over the place, but I'm almost all dried up. Anyway, what about letting her BF for a couple of minutes on each side, then give her a smaller bottle right away? Or what about pumping a bit to relieve them? I would actually suggest doing that if you have a hand pump.

Re: Another BF question Sorry!

So it's not too late right?

Should I let her eat for a couple minutes from each boob before a couple feedings a day?

How many do you think?

I don't want to stimulate them too much, but at the same time, I don't want to understimulate them and get plugged ducts.

Re: Another BF question Sorry!

You probably only need to do it once a day, just until your breasts soften and you are comfortable. Then pull her off and give her a bottle. By leaving your breasts still slightly full, your body will get the idea that it needs to slow down production.
