Does anyone else gag and then throw-up when they are brushing their teeth????

I really have not had much MS, but this past week, as soon as I start brushing my teeth I gag and start throwing up (sorry if TMI). My friend recommended I eat a few saltines as soon as I wake up before I brush my teeth or do anything. I guess it comes with the territory!

When i was PG with DD that happened until about 12 weeks. It was terrible especially b/c i have OCD about brushing my teeth. On the brighter side- it goes away in a few weeks.
Try different tooth paste's.

OMG! that was me!! That was the only time I threw up throughout my whole 1st trimester.

The crackers made it worse for me, I wound up throwing those up too. I used to drink gatorade in the am, a whole glass before getting out of bed, then i used to brush my teeth. It cut the gagging/throwing up significantly since I didn't have the dizzies and something was in my tummy.

Gatorade was my savior and keeper of sanity throughout my first trimester.

sadly, I went almost 10 weeks without brushing..I know totally gross. I flossed and used mouthwash. But everytime that brush came near my mouth, I would vomit. So then, I still had dirty teeth, but with throw up breath.Chat Icon I also chewed a ton of gum.

Even now at 21 weeks, I can't brush on an empty stomach.

I gagged during my bout with morning sickness. I'd eat first and then brush very quickly. At night, I could brush without gagging so then I spent a little more time brushing.

It went away for me - hopefully it does the same for you!

I had the same problem, although I didn't throw up. I would gag when brushing my teeth. I just tried to do it as quickly as possible.

I had that problem I switched to Crest Vanilla Mint whitening expressions (the Emeril BAM toothpaste) and it made a huge difference.

This used to happen even befor I was pregnant but it was worse during MS. Try to swithch to a baking soda based toothpaste, it helps.

With this pregnancy I had almost no MS except when brushing my teeth.

I tried everything: eating first, not eating, brushing at odd times, brushing quick, brushing slow, brushing with NO toothpaste, brushing with my eyes closed... everything and anything!
Even now at @25 weeks,I gagged 4-5 times this morning and yacked once,sorry- gross Chat Icon

Chat Icon I feel your pain.
