The No-Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley or any other

Does anyone have this book? Is it any good? I heard some good thing about it, possibly even on this board.

Or is there another good sleep book that someone can recommend that has worked for them?

We have stumbled into a few problems that need to be fixed. I blame myself entirely. Benjamin used to be a very good sleeper becuase we were always enforsing certain bed time rules. Then about a month ago, he was teething and sick for a little bit I stoped controlling things as much I used to and started allowing things like sleeping in our bed, numerous comfort-breastfeeding in the middle on the night etc. etc. So, now he is refusing to let go of all the "exceptions" we have allowed during that time.

Of course, this is entirely my fault. I was being soft and now he can't get a good night sleep! So, we now need some kind of solution. We tried CIO twice, very unsuccessfuly, I might add, and will never go back to that method again. What else is out there... We need help!

"Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" - Dr. Weissbluth.

But you may not like it though because he does advocate a sort of modified CIO method. But mostly it focuses on the theory that sleep begets sleep. Totally worked for us.

I briefly flipped through "Happiest Baby on the Block" and though I felt that there was nothing useful in there, I know alot of people who claim it did help them, so that's another one you may want to check out.

The No-Cry Sleep Solution didn't work for us, but that doesn't mean it won't work for you. She advocates very labor intensive and slow changes which work only for a baby that is somewhat easy to soothe (Pick up/put down, transitional objects, soothing words, etc).

If you are not willing to try CIO, then I think that Pantley's is the best book out there.

For my daughter, doing the No-Cry solution would have been like pulling a band aid off slowly, creating lots of discomfort for a loooong time -- but she has never responded to gentle soothing. (ie, I never was able to rock her to sleep, she never got calmed by being patted on the back, etc.)

I actually believe in it myself and see it with my son all the time. When he sleeps well during the day night sleep is always good as well. i think I will check this book out. Thanks!

I'm now reading the baby whisperer solves all your problems which focuses on "accidental parenting" and does not really advocate the CIO method...Once I'm done reading I'm going to start enforcing...good luck!

I second Weissbluth's book...we followed this book very closely and Cameron sleeps 7 - 7 every night. Sometimes she'll fuss around 5am but puts herself b ack to sleep within 20 minutes or so.

I started at around 10 weeks maybe earlier but don't go by me... I know I started earlier than the book recommended. I can't remember right now what the book said. But I can check tonight when I get home.
