No problem! DH and I went to Paris on a deal like this about 5 years ago for Valentine's Day. We were only there about 4 or 5 days, but it was so worth it!!!

Hotel room was small but great for our purposes. We saw the Eiffel Tower from our room (it was walking distance too) and walked across the street to get the train. They could find out what hotels they have a choice of (if they do have a choice) and go on Trip Advisor to see comments. Even some of the hostels in Europe are better than some of the hotels in the US so I think they should be ok. I hope they get to go!
